Wrong Scott. All the money is on USC and the bookies need to balance their positions. I just read an article from one to the large betting services that 91% of the money is on USC. The way to attract some money on the other team is to make the spread more attractive to them. Hence, the lower spread.

That is not correct. If the spread is narrowing this is an indication that the money is going to UCLA. In order to balance the book the bookie needs to get more money to come in on USC, hence the narrower spread.

geusc69,

I'm not following you, if the line started at 13 1/2 and is now 12 how is lowering the # of points given to UCLA going to attract some money on them? Seems to me, people are taking the points and UCLA, thus the betting services lowering the points given, trying to attract action on the 'SC side. I may well be wrong, and things may have changed in the betting world in the last 24 hrs.

Fight on!
