Not His Usual Self

The Rotary Club of Los Angeles held a luncheon Thursday with USC coach Pete Carroll and UCLA coach Karl Dorrell on Thursday.
Our spies tell us Carroll was not his usual care-free self at the luncheon, which might go back to our previous post about his concern about the Bruins this season and the close eye he's kept on them throughout the year.

I was at Autzen Stadium, Oregon last year waiting for the SC team to arrive for its "walk-through" prior to the game with the Ducks. The man leading the team was of course Coach Carroll. I gave him a very friendly greeting, "Welcome to Oregon, coach," and he silently glared at me as he walked past. When game day is approaching the man is intense and very serious, as I am sure most people are who engage in the endeavor of football. The game is so physically demanding, and so much personal sacrifice is made by players, that losing is not an option.

This is completely incorrect! I was at the luncheon and was sitting right in the front center. Carroll was his usual self and joked many times about the game this Saturday. He said the same thing he says each week about each team. He always says that the game that week is the only thing the team is thinking about. And that is what he did yesterday. Please do not try to make a story about nothing. You are a journalist and if you weren't there and have no real evidence to support what you are saying, then you shouldn't report on it at all. Nobody, I repeat NOBODY felt that way at all at the luncheon. Do I sense a little jealousy that you weren't invited, but Mario Solas, John Hartung, and Rob Fukuzaki were. Please be a positive reporter for the Trojans. That is your job. All you do is try to find negative things and run with it without any backing. It's sort of like the democrats! Good luck with furthering this story. Oh, by the way, Karl Dorrell looked a little nervous and said several times that he just hoped to make it a game. That sounds like someone who is not confident! Unbelievable!!!

Or maybe he's tired of appearing at these events and answering lame questions about whether or not he's leaving.

Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
