Numbers Game
Earlier this week we alluded to a possible scholarship crunch for next season. One more became available because fullback Jody Adewale was convinced to forego his final year of eligibility and instead concentrate on obtaining his master’s degree.
Adewale graduates this year but still has a year left to play football because he redshirted. But instead of playing next season, Adewale said he will work in the athletic dept. and receive two more years of education.
``Why stand on the sideline when I can get my masters?’’ Adewale said. ``It’s their decision. It’ll pay for two years of school.’’

I didn't think this was fair until I realized that in essence he still gets to go to school for free. Hopefully they will still let him partake in team activities

Great job Jody! You are smart for taking this option, getting your Master's and stepping up to the plate.
You do everything correctly, unlike Wolf who misquotes Norm and creates sleezy stories. What am I saying?
Jody = smart
Wolf = dumb

Good insight.
Can you give us your thoughts on how many scholarships we are looking at now?

That was actually a stupid move...with Hancock and Powdrell graduating, and A. Bradford having no interest at all in playing FB, that leaves us with 1 FB--S. havili.

I needed the scholarship. Loyalty is for losers.

Considering the academic melt-down of Van Blarcom, which was anticipated since the spring, witness the signing of Buehler, how come SC didn't offer a scholarship to any of the top 5 nationally ranked scholastic kickers? 4 of them are in-state and all have committed elsewhere. Danelo's been solid, but it sure helps when the other team has to go 80 yards after a score.

Convinced? "It's their decision?" Puleez. I remember the outcry when Baumgartner went back to being a walk-on. This is pretty sad IMO.

Read the Adewale story in today's LA Times, you'll understand why finishing school is at the top of his list

Unfortunately the article is written by Plaschke but out of curiousity and respect for Adewale I'll pull out the snow shovel and try to sift my way through the hyperbole.
