One More Year
USC coach Pete Carroll said fullback Brandon Hancock is expected to apply for a sixth year of eligibility after missing his senior season with torn knee ligaments.
``I'd love to have him back,'' Carroll said. ``He's a leader and a great player to have on our team.''
Hancock met with the USC coaching staff this week to discuss the idea. Carroll said USC's compliance official said he could likely be granted an extra year by the NCAA.
Players are not allowed to apply until after the season. The compliance office previously said fullback Ryan Powdrell could not apply for a sixth year.

I can not say how HUGE this would be if this sixth year were granted and if he could stay healthy
Will he have been gone long enough for all the steroids to wash out of his system?
Hope this happens. Means one less scholarship than planned, but Hancock is huge for the team. Great leader, proven and a known factor. We've seen how many 5-star recruits can pan out.
The main issue here would seem to be durability. While he has been a great player, he has certainly been prone to injury. If I remember correctly, his latest knee catastrophy occurred as he twisted a little funny during a drill in fall camp.
That being said, it would be great to have him back to help with the development of Havili, and now Jordan Campbell.
Obviously if PC sees fit that they pursue the sixth year, he feels that BH can add more to the team than the loss of the scholarship will incur
All you need to know about why Scott Wolf is the most unknowledgeable football writer in America is that he picked the hack Colt Brennan as his Heisman choice. Yes, Colt Brennan a slightly better than average QB who is in a phenomenal system, that Colt Brennan. You'd think people would realize after guys like Andre Ware and the like that just because the system is great doesn't mean the player necessarily is.
ASU, a horrible football team is making Brennan look like the hack he really is.
Scott Wolf, possibly the most unqualified football beat writer out there.
With 12 minutes left in the 4th quarter Hawaii is leading ASU by a score of 27-17. Brennan: 26-35, 391 yards, 3 touchdowns, 1 interception. Yeah, what a hack. Sure glad he got exposed as the flop that he is before his hype machine got out of hand.
Couldnt have agreed with you more Btown.
Btown, IMO 33-of-42 for 559 yards and 5 TDs is a pretty good night.
Greg, look at Brandon's fitness and nutrition schedule on his blog (brandonhancock.com)... try that for a few months (combined with some great genetics) and you'll look like he does.
I thought this was a thread regarding Brandon Hancock. Colt Brennan? How does that relate to the topic?
We NEED him back..we have NO FB or power running game now at all...in fact it hurts us more than helps (note the safety vs. Cal) If he could come back that would be awesome. S Havili will be good but he is also 18 years old.
