Was Lane Kiffin outcoached by UCLA defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker?
``Yeah,’’ Kiffin said. ``The scoreboard tells that. It’s no secret.’’

Make no mistake about it. This is absolutely true. This isn't a Kiffin bash as much as it is a tribute to Walker.

I have always been puzzled with the youth movement that we have seen in CFB. as if these guys have the experience that it takes to win these types of games.

I am generally happy with the team for being in a building year. I think things will be ok and we'll get better for next year.

I'm also not worried about recruiting, one win does not a dynasty make. Most of these kids are smart enough to see that SC will be the program to be with because they will always be in the hunt for a NC.

I will make a prediction though- I think PC is off to the NFL. You could just see it in his eyes. He may have been concerned about this game but his post game reations seemed distant. Just an observation.

Allow me to bash Lame Kiffin...let's hope Arizona St. offers the coaching job to him because USC needs a more dimentional offensive coordinator.

i will pay for lane kiffin to go to ASU, the play calls were horrible, but the O-line lost the game........

Jonathan said:

Pete isn't going to leave.... and yes that stupid Offensice Coordinator was out-coached and it hasn't only just been this game.

Karl said:

Lane is not going to be offered the ASU job. He needs to be the HC at a small Idaho type of college. Prove he can win games while he doesn't stand in Pete's coattails.

Coaching Offense and Deffense is very different than just being an OC.

Sarkisian needs to be the USC OC.

9 points was all Lane Kiffin could muster against UCLA when 14 could have been enough to beat them. Would Norm Chow stop at 9 points? I think not.

Overall you have to hand it to the bruin defense, they came to play. Their offense was very characteristic of a bruin offense, score enough points to maybe win.
USC on the other hand showed no pulse on offense.
I said it at the beginning of the season and I will say it in the end, BOOTY IS NOT THE ANSWER!

Criticisms about Booty:
1. Had another 4-5 passes blocked none more important than the last for a game ending interception.
2. Can't run when he desperately needs to. Stays in the pocket too long looking for a target.
3. Continues to lock in on one receiver.
4. Plays with zero passion.
5. And last but not least SUCKS IN THE CLUTCH!

Kiffy did a fantastic job. Absolutely wonderful. Couldn't ask for anything better. I'm 100% behind him

I wouldn't write off PC to the NFL. I think what we saw in his eyes was essentially shock at the outcome. He's been there and it's a different animal.

No excuses here. The Bruins showed up for this game and brought an amazing defense. SC's offense wasn't able to get it done, despite the fact they were in it up to a minute left in the game. That tipped pass drops, it's a different outcome.

The O-line was overmatched. Scary thing is that there's only one senior on the Bruin defense.

Nevertheless, it stings but it is what it is.

Good effort by the team this year. Get ready for the Rose Bowl and finish strong. Every game matters and UCLA earned the victory today. Hate to say it but true.

Trojan Wildcat said:

Kiffin's playcalling is unimaginative and predicable. Worse, he does not respond quickly during a game and continues to follow his failed gameplan. Continuing to call a dive play off left tackle on 4th & 1 is insane. Fire Kiffin!

TrojanHorse said:

Kiffin sucks
His play calling was not only pathetic but stupid. After a while your plays don't work, are not close to working and have no chance of working yet this frickin retard continues to call them. Yes his QB is horrendous and needs to somehow get better but still, don't call plays he can't execute, don't call plays that your OL can't execute and last but not least, I hope someone, anyone is stupid enough to take him off SC's hands. This guy is nothing but a huge liability

Scott,

Good reporting on the Carroll-Walker relationship. Why didn't anybody else pick up on that during the week, and why didn't you get to it until after the game?

In any case, that's where the realy rivalry is now, apparently.

1. Oregon State version #2 and the penalties by the O line tell the story.
2. I became a JDB supporter after his come back VS OR ST. VS UCLA tells me that JDB is NOT ready for prime time and ever since last year likes to throw/force into coverage>interception. Analyze his interceptions and see if you can prove me wrong?
3. I suggested Jim Fassel for OC and everybody blasted me and acted like I am crazy.
4. They knew that Hickman and Davis were going to rush like crazy-it happened and the game plan showed was a lot to be desired>outcoached>anemic offense>DEFEAT. BTW did anybody see any offensive adjustments?
4. It is Sanchez time, maybe the Rose Bowl is NOT a bad time to try...A phrase that keeps being repeated over and over JDB you blew it among others.
5. The defense did their job. Anytime you hold your opponent to thirteen points you get very few complaints.

It wasn't the only game in which Kiffin, the wonder boy, was out coached. It seems the story of his short career. What makes it particularly painful is that SC has had it's pick of players. Obviously, there is something wrong in the kingdom. An aside: It would be too ReggieBush like for Pete to go to the NFL after blowing a season. I lost respect for No5 when he choked in the Texas game and then deserted his team mates. I would be surprised if Pete departs to the NFL after such a dismal season.

In addition, Sarkisian aint Chow when it comes to developing QB's. He tries but while Booty has the skills, the results don't match the master

RE: Debt

Pete, please be advised; you debt to Monte Kiffin has beeb paid in full. Please feel free to search for an offense coordinator who posseses some imagination. Also, we would like to see a open competition at quarterback this coming summer. JDB has all the passion of a spare tire.

John Reynolds said:

You guys that are knocking Kiffin need to take a better look at what happened out there. Was it Kiffin's fault that the offense had 8 penalties? How many drops did our recievers have? 6 or 7. Was Kiffins hands out there making the drops? A once in a lifetime performance by an overmatched Bruin team. The biggest area of concern as it relates to Kiffin, is him not making adjustments by bringing in the tight ends to help out the tackles and give Booty some extra protection. The bottom line, as bad as the Trojans played, (and believe me that's as bad as it will ever get) they still had a chance to win the game with a minute to go. Get over it, ucla, played the game of this decade for them and I think they left everything they had on the field. As crappy as Florida State is this year, they'll beat the ruins. Kiffin is going to learn from this, we don't need a 50 year old oc who has never been in a NC game. Kiffin is not an idiot, and he will improve from this. Let's keep this in perspective guys, ucla played their game of the decade yesterday and that's a fact.

Kiffin was outcoached plain and simple. He did not make adjustments, Pete and Sarc should have stepped in, but their preparation for this game was bad and it showed. Pete does an amazing job on defence specially on adjustments in the second half most of the time, but what I've seen is they made adjustments on offence just once this season, against OSU and that was a loss. They could not make any adjustments yesterday, and UCLA was prepared for everything they had. Sure they had 3 straight games that they playcalling was good, but for a team that has a target on their back for the whole season, they need great playcalling in every game. UCLA marked this game on their calendar before the season, and it showed. They played great, we sucked on offense yesterday and we lost. Sound familiar (OSU loss)? I'm really gutted that we lost to our cross-town rival and only the 6th or 7th ranked team in the PAC-10. I like the OSY loss better, at least it was a fight.

JDB has too many tipped passes, his delivery is definitely an issue, but it's not something that can be overcome by changing the playcalling. We'll see next year.

You don't have to be a FB genius to know that a good PRACTICE is the difference between a win and a loss. Practice is the tool that a coach uses to rehearse plays and eliminate problems that keep a good play from happening, ARE YOU with me Mr. John Reynolds? A coach is teacher and if he is NOT a good teacher then that coach better find another job. A teacher's job is to correct mistakes so that a student learn the instructions. The USC FB players are among the best in the nation therefore they are teachable and coachable. If you want to applaud and praise yesterday's game coaching you are loudly outnumbered in this forum.
PC and the his coaches have access to game tapes that are different to the games we normally watch. ONLY a few have the money to buy a sophisticated DVD recorder, an expensive projector and a large screen to view the games frame by frame. I safely assume that USC/PC has that type of equipment.
I got this humble philosophy and it goes like this. One or two brains can be dumb. When a bunch of brains agree then something makes sense.

9 points.
Scoreless in the 2nd half.
Enough said.....
p.s. Kiffin has already cost us 2 national championships and what could have been the longest winning streak of all time. Thanks LaMe.

Costly Personal Debt,

The personal debt that Carroll had with Monte Kiffin has cost USC football two national titles and a place in history as the greatest college football program of all time. Kiffin has no imagination as an offensive cordinator. The only reason he is around is due to Caroll's gratitude to his father. But how ethical and professional is it to keep a coordiantor just because of friendship and because he has the credentials to get the job? I pray every night that Kiffin resigns or leaves to coach any local High School were he belongs. Pete Caroll's personal debt has been very costly to USC. I believe that it is time to bring a real Offensive Coordinator to USC. USC offense is not the same since Chow left.

It is Kiffins fault as he did not prepare the offense well enough find plays that would work, shoot every team in every game has drops.. don't blame that on the loss

penalties, they obviously were not prepared in their blocking scheme when they felt that they had to move early to pick up their man. They weren't prepared for what the Bruins were tossing at them and they couldn't adjust either

all coaching.. all kiffin
