UCLA Fallout
If USC defeated UCLA on Saturday, the Bruins already made contact with former Cal/San Francisco 49ers/Detroit Lions coach Steve Mariucci regarding the head-coaching position. But the 13-9 upset rendered such discussions irrelevant.
UPDATED: UCLA officials deny any contact was made with Mariucci.

Wow. I'd love to know your source on this, first I've heard it.

Scott,
Why do you insist on making up this bogus? Take your loss like a man. Dorrell outcoached Pete Carroll.
Prepare for more of the same next year.
Posted by: Allblu 4you | December 5, 2006 04:29 PM
Scott-
Actually, upon further review, are you sure you are not just playing your own game of telephone? I mean you know this is a public blog, and this will get mentioned on Bruin sites, so maybe you are just having fun!
Although, hiring Mariucci for OC would make me happy and complete Trojan unhappiness.

13-9, Trojans=Bruin's bitches
Posted by: miguelito | December 5, 2006 04:56 PM
Hey, Allblue4you -
I predict that Pete Carroll will NEVER lose to the Bruins again while he is head football coach at USC. As Bob Dole said to George Bush, "You know it, I know it, the whole world knows it." Enjoy your one year victory.
Posted by: james | December 5, 2006 04:56 PM
Once again, congratulations Bruins on your victory over USC! Your D played a hell of a game. But to quote the famous words of gillyking - “Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in a while.Congratulations Bruins on your big win and therefore losing out on a chance to hire a REAL College Football Coach! Most of my Bruin friends, I mean acquaintances, were actually looking forward to a USC victory because they could not wait to finally get rid of Coach Karl. How long is Coach Karl’s extension...six more years? It’s like they say, the 2 best things to recently happen to USC Football were the hiring of Pete Carroll and the hiring Karl Dorrell.
And I actually agree with Real Bruin...Mooch would have been a huge hire for UCLA. He actually knows how to coach.
Posted by: JJH4USC | December 5, 2006 05:11 PM
Let me get this straight.
If USC beat UCLA on Saturday, then the Bruins "already made contact" with Mooch.
So now that UCLA beat USC, what happens, or per your vernacular, what already happened?

I predict another 8 year streak.
Dorrell ran circles around Pete Carroll.
Next year, SC won't even get into the endzone against the Bruin defense.
It was a turning point victory. The momentum is with UCLA now. Once the Trojies get blown out by Michigan, your program will go back into the dumps and Petey will be back in the NFL.
Good Times, my man! Good Times!
Posted by: Allblu 4you | December 5, 2006 05:22 PM
Wow, it's amazing how a 4 point win can go to someone's head. Let's see...SC played it's worst of the year, UCLA it's best, and they only won by 4. Good luck with your predictions for the next 8 years. Oh...little Karl shouldn't be taking any credit for the win, it was all walker; former assistant to Pete the Great.

Scott, cmon man, you can do better than that. Give some more source info. We will put it on our site but you know we have to question your credibility and then how does that make you look?
Posted by: dumpdorrell | December 5, 2006 06:54 PM
Sunday, we woke up Trojans and you woke up Bruins. You had a day of glory and we have a lifetime of it. Tough luck Bruins.
I'd say more to you Bruins, but I can see that the welfare line is moving and so you probably need to get going.
Posted by: D | December 5, 2006 07:03 PM
D - you are so funny!!! OMG!!! Ow my sides hurt!! Welfare.
D, since you made me laugh so much, here's a joke:
Rey Maualuga is sitting in English class and the Professor Asks, "Rey, do you know what comes at the end of a sentence?" and Rey dutifully answers "Yes, the appeal!"
D - go pump my gas, Sucster.

Trojan's are pulling out all their resources to gain advantage for next year!
Trojan Journalistic Integrity at work once again!
What creative ways will you guys use the DA's office this year?
Posted by: Franchise | December 5, 2006 10:30 PM
Yo Jaybee! Even Pete Carroll noted that the 'loss hurt more because UCLA didn't have to play its best game to beat' sc. The defense played as it had the previous 2 games, but the offense was far from being an efficient machine. In defense of allblu4u, UCLA only loses one defensive starter next year and everyone else has the confidence of experience going into next year. I expect sc to come out hard next year, but I fully expect UCLA to be ready to rumble also.

Gotta love it...
Scott is giving the bruins the same crap he gives Trojans every day.. and there asking for sources???
Be serious... Scott doesn't need any stinking sources!!!

bruins have no class in getting lucky or losing...ugly, classless, lost, a**hole*...even a broken clock is correct twice a day. so much useless smack talked by their players after the game...in seven years of shutting them up, our players and coaches handled it with class and dignity...not the second class communists...enjoy my tax dollars, public school leeches...bruce in anaheim hills
Posted by: bruce in anaheim hills | December 6, 2006 01:19 AM
Bruce - Class and dignity?Get real. PC ran it up on us, going for it on 4th and 12 with starters in up like 50. There is no class at USC, and certainly none at the Coliseum. The USC Fans at the Coliseum are the worst fans I've ever dealt with. Don't delude yourself. Rough fans go both ways.
The fact that some of you Sucsters think that joke about public school being middle class or whatever is even remotely funny, is even more amazing. Here's another joke: You know what USC and UCLA have in common? There are as many kids that got into USC at UCLA, as there are at USC.
We CHOSE to go to UCLA because we didn't want to be associated with your form of arrogant, white supremacist, anti-poor, anti-minority, stereotypical snobbery. And thanks for your tax dollars, I'll make sure to tip you while you wax my Porche.

Trojans were classy the last 7 years? Pete Carroll said UCLA was the worst 9-2 team he had ever seen after last year's victory. Up huge at half, he said that he had no intention of laying off in the 2nd half. Which Trojan player said that the Rose Bowl is "really our second home" last week? This comes after the debacle against Texas last year, but he did say it. I wouldn't be mentioning classy in the breath as Trojan when it comes to players and coaches. Carroll is the guy trying to stop Chow from getting a job in the PAC-10. He wouldn't give Chow an endorsement for the Stanford job. He finds out that Chow is one of the front runners for ASU this year, and he promptly call up and recommends Sarkisian or Kiffin instead. He's classy.

Let's see. Trojans go to Rose Bowl, play New Year's Day and have a chance in finishing in the top 5. Bruins go to Emerald Bowl to play in a pre-New Year bowl game that serves as filler for ESPN programming in the month of December and had a chance of finishing in the top 40.
Yeah, I really see what you have to be excited about Bruin Fan.

bruce, the air in Anaheim Hills must affect your memory. Anyone remember Mike Williams' verbal abuse of UCLA in 2003? Anyone remember Frostee the Dopeman's asinine statments and 'FUCLA' hat last year? Anyone remember 'Roid Hancock pre-smacking about 'we want to humiliate those pansies' in the Daily News. Please destroy that selective memory chip in your head and realize that UCLA's exhuberant proclamations came nowhere close to the trashing and braggadocio sported by USC players over the last 5 years.

ReelBruin/Greg/brewnz,
Stop wasting your time citing all your lame examples. And quit your crying.
Everything that was done to ucla during the seven-year streak and everything that has and will be done since is justifie ... for one simple reason. One so simple that even your small minds can understand it.
The ucla football program is absolutely nothing compared to USC's. Yes, the Bruins won last Saturday ... congrats ... now know you guys know how bad Lane Kiffin is too.
But your PROGRAM is piss poor. Our PROGRAM is elite.
Games can be won or lost, but PROGRAMS need to be built, nurtured and cherished.
ucla has NEVER had a football program. Let me repeat that for you ... ucla has NEVER had a football program.
One flimsy national championship and one Heisman stolen from O.J. Simpson, doesn't give you a PROGRAM.
Your history and tradition is laughable compared to Stanford's. So, don't ever think about matching up with USC.
Enjoy the win. Live it up. Have fun in San Fran. You guys will love the Castro District.
Hey, Jeff Bowden is as bad as Kiffin, so you guys will probably win again. Great!
But you'll still be bruins and all you'll ever have is basketball and women's sports.
Yup! That's better than nothing. But nothing like FOOTBALL!
The end.
Posted by: FDOG | December 6, 2006 09:17 PM
Thanks for the wake-up call, FDOG. I almost forgot that we beat you 8 straight years before your lesser streak. I thought you had a chance at matching it, but it's gone now. For all of the experience that Pete Carroll has on Dorrell, KD sure is catching up fast. Carroll was outcoached last week. You guys think it's so great that Dorrell is around, but this is the first year that he has started to get recruits that Carroll and Co. wanted (Price, Carter & Forcier - and we only have 8-9 scholies to give). Now he has beaten you on the field. Could it be that he is developing? I mean, Carroll wasn't always successful. He had his own school of hard knocks. He learned, just like Dorrell has learned.
Posted by: Greg | December 6, 2006 11:47 PM
Wow FDOG...homophobic smack to get your point across. How trojan of you.
I don't even want to delve into your myopia-driven post. I'll just say our "piss-poor" program just whacked your "elite" one on National television. I'm certain the U of M will be more than willing to finally provide you with your "3-Pete"...that is, 3 losses in the Rose Bowl in one calendar year, a record that may never be broken.
I can't believe you actually say low-classed behavior by trojan players is justified by winning. That's a real gem!
Posted by: brewnz | December 7, 2006 12:38 PM
"Thanks for the wake-up call, FDOG. I almost forgot that we beat you 8 straight years before your lesser streak".
And during that streak how many times did UCLA "even" make the Rose Bowl as PAC-10 champs? Answer: 0, nada, zero, zip.
UCLA will never compare to USC in Football Tradition. Never.
Congrats on the "W", congrats at retaining Duh-rell.
Don't bRuin your life.
Posted by: supertrojanman | December 7, 2006 03:54 PM
brewnz,
You say: "I don't even want to delve into your myopia-driven post."
You know why?
BECAUSE YOU CAN'T.
It's all true.
One more time ... ucla has NEVER had a football program.
The end.
Posted by: FDOG | December 7, 2006 05:28 PM
FDOG,
You're right, I can't delve into because I don't know what the hell you're talking about. All the Bruins are saying is, "we beat you this year". That's it.
I'm very fortunate to work among real '$C fans who have perspective and class...and a life, so they don't take this stuff too seriously. The bandwagon bunch obviously live in the last 5 or so years of trojan lore. I find it rewarding that your lives have been so ruined by one football game.
