Would rather see a more compelling match-up against Wake Forest or even Rutgers

Garrett is a known liability.
Syracuse AD "Call me Doctor" Darryl Gross was a failure as a player, a USC graduate assistant, an NFL scout (what a joke), and hung around SC long enough to use other people's generosity to secure a PhD.
He's got more enemies than Donald Trump and Rosie O'Donnell combined!!!
Syracuse football is a joke and won't do a damn thing for USC's image or prestige.
Consider: If you're a stellar NY, NJ, PA high school football player, are you going to Syracuse or Rutgers?

Uh, Pete,
Syracuse has been the choice for roughly the last 50 years or so. Therefore, with all that tradition, Syracuse has a greater chance of again being strong than Rutgers does of maintaining their current lofty status-although Rutgers has more elements in place (proximity to a metro area, weather, "the" state school, more prospects, etc., etc.) than Syracuse to be a successful program.
There will be a home-and-home in basketball too.

One step above Idaho
In the BCS era, with Notre Dame sucking, that really hurts our computer strength of schedule.
The scheduled games with Ohio State in 2008 and 2009 mean if we win out, we go to the championship.
