Another Thought
Would USC be playing in the BCS title game if the Trojans abandoned the running game and threw 27 of 29 plays against UCLA?
Their rushing total against the Bruins was almost identical to yesterday's Rose Bowl, so if a change in philosophy was made a game sooner, would the results be different?

Nice thought, Scott. You must be reading my posts...
Norm Chow wouldn't have taken 6 quarters to make the adjustment...
Yes and yes.
Stop with the subtle Kiffin-Chow posts. We could be like Big-10 schools that can't make an adjustment for six YEARS.

I could not agree more. I now think that the UCLA loss may serve to be a blessing in disguise by showing the coaches and team that just the name USC is not going to be enough to be national champions! Can't wait for next year!
So what is the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT?
Lloyd Carr hasn't made an adjustment since the 2004 Rose Bowl.
Too bad we will really never know!

With ALL due respect there you go again. SW opened the can of worms. Secondly even if it comes from a Bruin fan such as HermosaBruin. Furthermore the results speak for themselves. My motto as a blogger is you write, I read and then I blast you. You are welcome to do the same to me-open forum-end of the story.
Thanks
SW, the running game was abandoned against UCLA. Futhermore, there was no adustment made to counter UCLA's quick DE's that bothered USC's OT's. No draw, or Screen passes. Nothing was done to use their speed and quickness against UCLA's DL. OC shows his Raider heirtage. The inabilty to make adjustments. I don't see how PH55 and El Capitan let this get by.

Read again I agree with you and I did NOT miss anything. I got on PH55 for blasting what you and I agree on!
Thnx
Well, don't forget we were playing the team with the #1 rush defense in the USA. What do they give up like 38 ypg rushing or something?
That being said, we need work on the Running game. If we are the best team in the land we still should of been able to run on UM, even a little bit. It is kind of depressing seeing the school of Bush-Allen-White-Davis-Ricky Bell completely give up on the running game. And next year we won't have the luxury of just scrapping the runs and throwing it to DJ and SS. Unless Parick Turner, V.Hazelton, Ausberry, CJ Gable or Moody or someone can step up as a star player we are going to lose alot of 13-9 games.
I guess I don't understand how saying "OK we have 25 yards rushing and they are the best run defense, forget the runs and pass every time" makes someone a genius..I think just about anyone could figure that one out...

What is with this [WE] stuff? Please do your homework/research before your XXX gets the best of your gray matter with all due respect that is. Have you heard of Marc Tyler and Broderick Green-if NOT check rivals.com. Also keep in mind that Moody will be healthy along with the FB's NOT to mention that USC has a good RB's coach in Todd McNair.
Research, OK?
Thanks
Re my critics and the running game:
Can we give it a rest with the "we need to establish the running game" line of thought. The purpose of offensive football is to score points, regardless of how they come. You don't get bonus points for being a "power football" team. Enjoy the victory instead of crying about our lack of "Tailback U" tradition.
As for the comments that we abandoned the run against UCLA...Did you see all the fourth down plays in that game? They were all runs! The problem is the lack of a fullback. We are on our fourth string FB. Tough to get a power running game going without a good FB.
Further, at UCLA we got ourselves in a bind with too many penalties setting up third and longs. You can't keep getting third and longs and expect to be effective. And you can't blame Kiff/Sark for this.
And for all of you who can't be happy with this victory because it happened without a running game and without Norm Chow; who would be a better at the position? (And don't say Norm because you know he would have left anyway.)

Coach Kiffin talked about that this afternoon on ESPN 710 AM. He said that every game is different. It's the team that you are playing and what they give you and what they take away that determines the SC offensive scheme as well as the adjustments. Asked why SC didn't open it up in the second half of the UCLA game, he said that we did and passed a lot more in the second half, but we just couldn't get it going. Some teams have four or five games like that every year. USC has had only one game like that (scoring less than 20 points) in five years.
