End Of An Era?

Over the past few years, USC's offense always featured a player that broke down a defense with one play. Reggie Bush is the perfect example, but LenDale White, Mike Williams and Dwayne Jarrett are other examples.
Perhaps the biggest question going into next season is whether USC even has a player like that anymore? Former offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin said USC's losses this season weren't much different than games the previous two years, except the Trojans no longer had Bush to rescue them.
Now you can say the same about Jarrett. Click here to see who I would have to pick for the best big-play candidate next season then feel free to list your own candidate.

A defensive coordinator that faced USC this season said the player who worried him the most was tailback Emmanuel Moody. Will he develop into a consistent threat next year?

Stafon Johnson !!!!!!!

I would tend to agree with you that in the past 5 years, SC has always had one player they could count on to be that "go-to guy", but I think even more important and consistant over the last three years was the play of Steve Smith. He was more of a weapon than any of those players because of his workman like attitude and ability to get to the first down marker or get the extra yard when SC needed it most. I wonder where SC would have been the last 3 years without Steve Smith.

Dark horse for you: Travon Patterson. He seemed to have that potential, from the couple practices I saw and games he got the ball in.

I would say Patrick Turner...he has the size and ability and JDB will throw to him since he has a little experience...

This is a bit of a moot point. The past 5 years from a recruiting standpoint have been nothing short of incredible. And while it seems so easy to make an overdramatic statement as "the end of an era" - the quality and athleticism of each recruit says otherwise.

Following the suprising rise of Carson Palmer after years drowning in the Hackett, he transforms himself into a Heisman winner. No way can he be replaced in such a short period of time - then along comes Matt.

The there's the WR position. Keyshawn was the man who could never be replaced, then along came Mike Williams - then along came DJ and so on and so on...

Who do you pick... Hate to say in but one JDB might surprise everyone along with some guys like Stafon and Patrick and Moody and and and and...

Who do you pick??? is the question...

We don't have him, but if we can bring in Joe McKnight he really is similar to Reggie Bush from what I have seen.
Stafon, CJ, who knows what they can do if given the chance. I don't think Emmanuel will unless he cuts down on cutting so much he actually runs himself back into the defender sometimes.

Fight On!!!

Watchout for Jamere Holland. This guy can and will outrun any DB in the NCAA. He may also be a darkhorse kick returner. He's my best bet to become a game breaker. I'd also love to see Joe McKnight come to SC. He looks like a serious game breaker also.

Hello Glk:
I agree with you 100%; let's hope it happens!

Well according to a Wolfie post, the guy the other teams are most afraid of is E. Moody...but no one mentioned him...haha. he did have 1 long run last year I remember. I hope someone steps up, whether is Holland or Johnson or Hazelton or Moody. Our running game was a little weak last year and we couldn't sustain long drives. Other teams knew that and played the field position game and kept punting us back to our 20 yard line.

The scary thing is that PC said they were "concentrating on the running game" in practice before the Rose Bowl, and still had no running game.

Well I am sure they will get it fixed.
