It seemed odd recently when linebacker Keith Rivers held a press conference to announce he would return for his senior season when he had no intention of going pro. Apparently, Rivers was advised holding the press conference would help raise his profile for next season and increase pre-season buzz.

Hey, more power to the guy! If he's passing up significant money from the NFL to finish his college career, he should do everything he can within the eligibility rules to increase his stock for next year's draft. That not only includes speed training, hitting the weights, and focusing on film study, but getting his name out there, taking out insurance if he feels it's necessary, etc. That presser didn't hurt anybody. Didn't cost anyone anything. Again, good for Keith.

I am sorry...but why is this thread worth the energy in typing the words?

Scott...I really started out liking you and the information that you brought...but there has been some very questionable posts (the Danelo post, etc...). I hope you can turn it around and start reporting actual news...like the #11 recruit in the nation last year (Antwine Perez) leaving the school!

Tim,

Get your head out of your ass.

Scott (and almost every other USC site) reported on Antwine Perez transferring out of USC and to Maryland when it first happened - in DECEMBER 2006 (before the Rose Bowl). Just because you are the last person on the face of the earth to hear about it doesn't mean you have to bring your ignorance here. Go back to Scott's posts dated between December 19th and 21st of 2006 and you will get your Perez info.

I'm not the biggest fan of some of Scott's posts but you calling him out on something you clearly have no idea about yourself just might be the most assinine thing I've ever seen posted here.

While you're at it why don't you get on ESPN.com and call out Mel Kiper for not reporting on Matt Leinart deciding to return for his 5th season. Idiot.

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
