Howard Who?

| | Comments (5) |

Another tradition took a hit last week, as workers quietly removed the large cement sign above the doors to the practice field that said, ``Howard Jones Field'' and replaced it with a different sign that says ``Brian Kennedy-Howard Jones Field.''
The main practice field is Howard Jones Field and the side field installed about 10 years ago is named after Kennedy, a loyal booster. Kennedy's name is now etched in cement signs on three different places outside the practice field while Jones gets one mention.
Jones merely won four national championships and compiled a record of 125-36-13 from 1925-40. But what's he done lately? He doesn't even get first billing any more as players walk through the doors for practice every day.

I often times wonder if Scott truly loves his school. The gist of this story seems pretty darn simple: The practice field officially changed names from A to B, no? Hey Scott, why must you bash your beloved school for merely a few more hits (at the expense of angering all Trojan fans across the web)? You're seriously about to lose me as a loyal follower of your blog. You have the opportunity of a lifetime, as a million of these readers would absolutely LOVE to have your job. I'd rather you be a local homer than whatever the hell you are now. Geez, I guess I still haven't forgiven you for those comments made about the “breaking news Mario Danelo story. There is no need to stir things up, as you do tend to take things too far in the most obnoxious way possible. Scott, you've been blessed with this unbelievable chance, so don't mess things up. Here's an idea: Try talking smack against the TROJANS' UPCOMING OPPENENT? What a novel idea!!

Its a shame to see people like Earl who have no idea who the Head man was. Howard Jones was a legend who set the foundation for SC football. Pete Carroll is just starting to surpass Jones in stature. SC turning its back on it`s football roots. I for one, am sorry to see that this day has come.

It is a shame that everything is for sale these days. Giving money is not the equivalent of dedicating your life to the program, as Jones did. I, too, don't understand the "Earls" on this board who constantly bash Scott. It seems as if he hurts their feelings with any critique of SC. Perhaps they should not read the blog anymore.
