I'm glad to hear that, good for him. Grootegoed was a solid ball player at SC, perfect example of a little guy that could play LB.

I miss Groots. That is one bad thing about these days of 5 star only recruits - SC doesn't offer guys like Groots any more. Guys who are not future top NFL prospects but who are fearless ballers who are always prepared and never take plays off. He was a leader by example who made us alums proud.

Wasn't Groots highly rated coming out of Mater Dei? For whatever it's worth, I remember he was the LA Times Glenn Davis Award winner that year (Southland's top player), and I thought he'd be a badass (whew, was he!). I don't know how many stars he rated, but wouldn't the Glenn Davis winner be automatically 5 (or 4) stars?
Best wishes to Grootegoed. Why isn't he in The League, though? He's about the same size as Zach Thomas and the retired Dat Nguyen, and just as fearless.
