Post-Game Question
Reporters asked Pete Carroll after the game about the NFL openings in Arizona and Atlanta following today's firings of Dennis Green and Jim Mora, Jr.
``There’s been no contact,'' Carroll said. ``There’s nothing going on with any of those things. Could I have had more fun tonight? No. I absolutely plan on being back here.''

But sources say that the Arizona Cardinals are prepared to offer Carroll a huge contract and full control of the program there. At some point, Carroll would have to take the bait...it's all about the mighty dollar!
Do what you love and the money will follow, I've been told. SC will pay him $4 million a year, and there will be absolutely no reason to go to the No Fun League. Pete is MADE for college football. No need to pull a Saban or an "ol Ball Coach" - stick around and be the next Bear Bryant.
Hi guys:
I have a question:
Let's say PC makes $3 Mil. USC offers $3.5 Mil. The Rich USC boosters say we give another $0.5 Mil to make it $4 Mil. How exactly does that work? Those of you in the inner circle should have an answer.
Thanks
Who among us makes $3+M? Isn't that enough to live happily on? I know it would be for me, even in LA.
When you're talking about that much money, money becomes nothing more than an "I'm richer than you" thing, not a "I can't afford not to take it" thing. Enjoying what you do HAS to be a consideration.
Let's say PC goes to AZ, then in a few years actually wins a Super Bowl (doubtful with AZ's past, but anything's possible). Is one Superbowl win better historically than multiple National Championships?
Bobby Bowden and Joe Paterno seem to have done OK for themselves, both financially and historically. Also, I'd say they're pretty well known nationally - better than most 2nd teir NFL coaches, IMHO.
In short, what besides money and bigger headaches can the NFL offer PC?
How the hell could anyone be happy when your boss is a total obnoxious jerk and proven bonifide loser? The Bidwell family has proven in recent decades that they are probably the worst NFL ownership out there...(Al Davis included)
From leaving St. Louis in the dead of night to exhibiting failure in the Arizona desert..it would be like falling into a black hole for PC to go to Arizona, regardless of the financial considerations. I'd bet that whatever the Bidwells would honestly offer PC...the USC establishment could/would compete with.
Something to consider...
Whenever an NFL team wins a Super Bowl, it is always the players who are instantly remembered.
Whenever a college team wins a championship, everyone immediately remembers the coach.
Right or wrong, something I think PC has already considered regarding whether to stay or leave.

Anyone who saw PC jumping around on the sideline in the 4th quarter like a giddy school girl knows he's not going anywhere.
The guy has said on multiple occasions that he wants to basically become the John Wooden of CFB coaches. He has coached 6 seasons at USC, 5 BCS games, 3 NC games and already has as many NC's as Joe Pa and Bobby Bowden.
It's crazy when you think about it.
Sidebar: Did anyone else notice the unmistakeable difference between the two sidelines to start the 3rd quarter of the RB game? The USC guys were jumping out of their skin to get the second half going and Michigan could barely muster up any energy. I really think this RB was the turning point for this young USC team.
Tyler's right, I was sitting on that sideline, and the energy USC came out with was infectious. Except for a couple lulls (Booty's fumble in the first half, the three-and-out to start the second half) the Trojans controlled momentum. Just a fantastic job by Carroll getting his guys ready to play.
