Sarkisian Takes Over

USC assistant head coach Steve Sarkisian will call plays for the Trojans next season with Lane Kiffin going to the Raiders.
Sarkisian will be granted complete control of the offense following the Raiders’ surprising hire of Kiffin, who is only 31-years-old and never coached in the NFL.
``(Sarkisian) is going to assume all of the responsibility,’’ USC coach Pete Carroll said. ``He will be in charge of the offense. He’s going to take over all of it.''

Fight on, Sark!

Sounds good to me. Who is going to take over as WR coach and recruiting co-ordinator?

Fight on, Sark!

Sounds like Pete had to negotiate with Sark to keep him, giving him full run of the offense. It would be interesting to know how Sark and Kiffin managed to finesse their interviews with Raiders and SC. Looks like Sark and Kiffin both got what they wanted.

Well, good for Kiffin. He has some $$$ now, haha.

I hope it works out for him, however, seeing that poor roster they have and a medddling owner I doubt it will.

I don't think it will make much difference for USC, we will still have PC and Sark calling plays.

Here is the real question: Who will the posters and chatters bash now that kiffin is gone??? Rocky Seto?

This is going to be so great now that Steve Sarkisian is going to run this multiple set attack that SC has been running in the Pete Carroll Era. First of all, this b.s. of having co-coordinators is never all that good. Ever since Norm has been gone when they dismantled Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl, Lane Kiffin has been the main offensive play caller, and Sark would be a veto at specifc times. I think the problem with Lane Kiffin was that he was always so obssesed with throwing the ball 30 to 40 yards downfield and forcing the big play or the deep ball, that it would allow for defenses in the front 7 to ingage more into Leinart and Booty's rythym. I can almost gurantee that under Sark, you won't see the kind of crap that we saw this past year with UCLA, Oregon State and even in the second half of the Nebraska game. He will progress it just like Norm did with on 1st and 2nd downs using the 1 and 3 step passing game and also using the straight ahead powerrunning game. And if the pass rush is coming upfield so hard, then Gable will be used on interior screens or on draw traps, something we haven't seen since Norm has been gone. Also, don't be surprised one bit if Booty ends up having a season almost as indentical as Leinart had in 04 under Chow as now Booty will have in 07 now that Sarkisian is at full control. Then add in the defense that Pete and Nick Holt have already produced. Can you say 2004 Trojans all over again? Only time will tell, only I think it might be pretty close.
