Twin Threats
The 2007 Rose Bowl Game was only the third time USC had two 100-yard receivers in a bowl game. The other two: the 2005 Orange Bowl game (Jarrett and Smith), and the 1963 Rose Bowl (Willie Brown and Hal Bedsole).

For those of you who remember, the 1963 Rose Bowl game against #2 Wisconsin is a game I will never forget. Ahead 42-14 at the half, Vanderkellen almost brought Wisconsin back for the win, just falling short at 37 points, and driving. Wisconsin held the Trojans scoreless in the second half.
While I'm at it, 9 and 16 are now my 2 favorite numbers. 0-9 in their last 9 bowl games and 0-16 for their last contests against top 10 teams. Who? ND! Who else would I really give a hoot about. Sorry, Charlie, et al.
Nice post larry.
Here's another nice tidbit. At that time they played a game of the top college players vs. the NFL team who won the championship. And VanderKelen led the college guys to a win.
As a side note, the game was played differently in the late 50's, early 60's. The players went both ways, and only one person was allowed to substitute between downs unless there was a penalty or a time out. Then the coach could make all the substitutions he wanted. The #1 '62 Trojans had the "red" teams, which were first stringers, who went both way, the "gold" teams which were second stringers who just played offense, and the "green" teams which werre second stringers who just played defense. John (McKay) would often take an intentional "delay of game" penalty just so he could make the multiple player substitutions he wanted. The freshmen could not play varsity and therefore, had their own team, and own schedule. Today, it's a whole new world of college football. When #1 USC took on #2 Wisconsin in this Rose Bowl game, it was billed as the game of the year. The score of 42-37 (USC) was only fitting because of the rankings of these teams going into the game.
