Dealbreaker
Word in the NFL is that the San Diego Chargers effectively ruined their own chances of landing Pete Carroll when GM A.J. Smith insisted on hiring Ted Cottrell as defensive coordinator. Cottrell, a former defensive coordinator with Minnesota and Buffalo, is close to Smith and was always going to be hired.
That meant any coaching candidate would need to accept outsiders on his coaching staff and everyone knows Carroll prefers complete control, something he spoke to the Miami Dolphins about last month.

well wolfie I don't think PC ever SERIOUSLY considered taking the Chargers job anyway so can we move on to some more relevant posts?
:o))
Well if that is true, thank you A.J. Smith for hiring your own DC! I feel good now because I can't think of any NFL jobs that would be more desirable than being in Miami, Arizona or San Diego. And those are all filled so hopefully we won't have to worry about Carroll leaving sunny SoCal for a while!
Two weeks too late. You are completely worthless.
Give it up Scott. You must have rooted for the 'Tardinal' tonite.
