More McKnight

Pete Carroll said Joe McKnight did ask about the NCAA investigation into Reggie Bush last week and Carroll even considered the idea of a conference call but was quickly told it was against the rules.
``I was told we couldn't do it, so I knew it wasn't going to happen,'' Carroll said. ``Reggie will tell you it never happened too.''

This is the biggest story ever.

Ever.

Bigger than the Anna Nicole Smith Story.

Conference calls should be banned. I'm writing to my congressman right now. Anybody who disagrees should be ashamed of themselves. USC needs to lose scholarships because of this. Take away their 1979 championship, too.

It is plain and simple. He spoke to Reggie Bush to get his side of the story. He would not have signed with Probation Pete if he knew that he wouldn't see TV or a bowl game in his career. Pete tells him it is a violation and that he needs to deny it. So, McLiar says that he mispoke due to all the questions thrown at him.

I heard that McLiar will be interning at the same firm that Reggie Bush interned at, which is the same agent that Reggie signed with. Just another coincidence, I suppose.

Cheat On!

Petingtong or whatever your name is:
You are cleary being sarcastic, I hope the rest can see that as well.

Bill:
On the other hand, you just hate SC and instead of following your team, you'd rather waste time throwing garbage our way.

No matter, we got Joe McNight and he's a little faster, taller and bigger than Reggie.

SC will make sure the same mistake w/Reggie does not happen to someone else. The media needs news and that is all this is about. There's nothing concrete, just rumors of tapes and whatever else because media people want notoriety.

I'm getting season tickets now, although our best games are away this year.

Imagine playing OSU in 2008 and 09! What a game that'll be!

Fight on

El Capitan: Please learn to distinguish slander from libel. Not that either were demonstrated by Petington. Please get a sense of humor before I am forced to get libelous. I hate to see unfunny USC fans.

Bill: Could it be possible that USC gets great recruits because we have a dominant team? Coincidence?

Wolf: Keep doing what you're doing.

Bill, all of these guys are just trying to be respectful to you by acknowledging your anti SC posts and showing thier disdain politely. I'm a little different then them.

Welcome 'bel-airians' i.e. the 'people's school' where none of said 'people' will ever live.

Pete Carroll is a great coach then again I'm guessing for St. John Wooden, Sam Gilbert was the find of all time.

Here is something I found interesting on the lsu.scout website. I did look at the video and, at least to me, it doesnt seem that Joe McKnight is confused.

.........................

here it is -- on youtube --
http://youtube.com/watch?v=qOtZ-o7GfUI

here are the important quotes from McKnight --

REALLY WHAT CAUGHT ME IS WHAT COACH CARROLL SAID....I DIDNT ASK ABOUT THE REGGIE BUSH STUFF....HE JUST BRUNG IT UP AND TOLD ME WHAT IT REALLY WAS...AND ACTUALLY HE CALLED HIM AND HAD HIM ON A SPEAKERHONE AND ASKED HIM TO EXPLAIN IT TO ME

HE (BUSH) WAS BASCIALLY SAYING...THAT HE WASNT EVEN UNDER INVESTIGATION...HE DIDNT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT

now this is what carroll has been saying --

Carroll said Friday he was looking for a tape of McKnight's news conference because he was concerned the tailback's comments were "twisted."

"The way he says what he said, his words might have been twisted," Carroll said. "They never talked and never had a conference call or speakerphone conversation. Joe knows that."

and this is the spin being used by mcknight's high school coach j.t. curtis

Curtis said McKnight might have been overcome Wednesday by the attention and scrutiny that accompanied his announcement.

"At the press conference, it seemed like he got 1,000 questions in five minutes," about the controversy surrounding Bush and possible sanctions, Curtis said. "If you saw what was going on it would be easier to understand."

judge for yourself -- but it doesnt seem to me that anything is being "twisted" and certainly for curtis to suggest somehow that this was an intense in-your-face news conference like president bush faces is totally false.

it seems to me that mcknight is quite clear and not confused about what happened.

please give me your thoughts -- especially if you see something else in this tape.

Out of context. Secondly read Mike Farrell's article in sportingnew.com. After three consecutive #1 recruiting classes Pete Carroll decided to cheat according to your spectacular logic. Mike Farrell a well known and reputable college FB recruiting analyst put his reputation and integrity on the line NOT only for PC but for USC as well. Pete Carroll did NOT cheat...

El Cap...Thank God Mike Farrell is not the "A" hole actor/activist or else your argument would be kaput!

No one wants to say it, but McKnight flat out told a lie. He did it to justify his unfavorable decision in front of the LSU faithful breathing down his neck for not choosing them. He wants to play for SC and didn’t want to appear “stoopid” for his decision in light of the Bush “investigation” and possible program sanctions. So he told a lie that he spoke with Reggie and all is cool. He obviously didn’t understand this would play out on a national scale. Who do you believe, an 18 year old kid, or his coach, Bush’s lawyer, Pete Carroll and the cell phone bills? It’s a non-issue.
