More Quarterbacks

| | Comments (28) |

With quarterbacks a hot topic, it's interesting to note USC is recruiting Dayne Crist of Notre Dame High.
With 10 tailbacks on scholarship, including Joe McKnight, maybe it's possible Crist would not be turned off by the quarterback glut if Mitch Mustain transfers to USC.

What does having 10 tailbacks have anything to do with a quarterback. That last sentence is not english there is no relevance. I am not trying to sound condemning. But can somebody explain what the RB status has to do with the QB. Besides the obvious of having a talented TB in the backfield. Scott clarify?

Nels said:

The RB situation is relevant because SC has been able to attract (and so far keep) all these talented backs without assuring any of them that they will be the featured back. If another highly rated QB comes, that will mean at least 5 highly regarded QBs will be in the fold. This situation is very rare in the modern era of reduced scholarships and is reminiscent of the days when the traditonal powerhouses would stockpile talent knowing that half those kids would never see the field.

You guys are brutal. I know Scott has said somethings that irk you guys sometimes but it seems its gotten to the point where Scott can't say a single thing w/o many of you jumping all over him and being negative. Folks, it's a blog! It's kinda sad that you guys react like this. If you don't like what Wolf reports...well then stop visiting the page. I myself enjoy the reporting. Is a lot of it rumors? Yes but I enjoy hearing about possibilities out there. Does some of the content annoy me? Yes, but there's a ton more good and interesting stuff I read on here than bad. Scott's not the end-all...it's just a blog.

No one, to my knowledge, ever stockpiled 5 quality quarterbacks at one time.

Great point. Totally agree.

But I have to admit I wish Wolfie proof read his sentences every once in awhile...

I have some real high hopes for this year...or next at the latest.

I have been watching Joe McKnight on youtube.com and wow...he looks exactly like Reggie Bush. Incredible talent...he can break any play for a 60 yd TD. Speed, moves, the whole package. We are lucky to have this guy.

I didn't think we would see anyone else like Reggie bush for another 20 years. He has incredible speed, moves, field vision, and football awareness. And toughness, he takes runs straight up the middle for the Saints. But I think Joe McKnight could be as good.

Sark/Carroll have already said they are going to open up the playbook with McKnight like they did with Reggie.

I think B. Green can be as good as Lendale. He likes the comparison excepts he says "I want to be better than Lendale"

Now, put that together with S. havili, an awesome FB, A. bradford as a third down/H back, and C. Washington/CJ Gable taking some carries also, and I am sure Stafon Johnson will get some carries too, and what an awesome running attack.

Then, throw in #1 WR Patrick Turner, #1 WR Vidal Hazelton, Fred Davis and Heisman trophy candidate JDB, we should have a great offense again.

Now , put that together with the incredible defense that totally snuffed out the losers from Michigan in the Rose bowl, which just got better with additions like E. Griffin and Malcolm Smith, and I don't see why we can't win the NC the next 2-3 years in a row.

I think it will be called the "Reggie Bush II era"

33 you are dead on! It's just a blog. The ugly part of it is when this clown who calls himself a captain or something..gets the whole board riled up with this racist crapola about latin players...I'm sure glad that Joe McKnight is not Jose McNoche or we'd be back to one of those crazy self agrandizing racial commentaries that run the thread up to about 50-60 posts all non football related, but instead all about this psycho who thinks this blog is all about him and his latino roots.

I just hope PC remembers to stockpile some 5 Star O Lineman, or else all these Tailbacks will continue to get stuffed against the likes of ucla & Michigan.

goliathtrojan Author Profile Page said:

SEC52...PC has already gotten commits from two OTs kalil and Meyer both @6-8 and 285, couple those two with newbys O'Dowd Reardon and Coleman, and add in veterans Chas Brown, Heberer, Butch Lewis, Nick Howell,Possibly ThosHerring and hopefully Beyers, our future O line aint gonna be too shabby as things stack up early on.

Goliathtrojan,
I think that Brown and Lewis are going to be getting alot of playing time this season, but my main hopes are that Beyers can get back healthy and Matt Spanos can get academically elgibile which would give us some seriously needed depth.

Why do you act as if you are the board moderator here? Last time I checked its Scott’s blog. And the only person on this blog that brings up race is you and then you call other people racist!!!!! Think about it dude, some of your post are ok until you bring race into them.

goliathtrojan Author Profile Page said:

LBC_ROB,
Maybe the captain really isn't very comfortable in his skin? Maybe he uses the racecard, along with his routine nasty verbal assaults, as a crutch to fortify his maleness? Just a hunch based on the fact that when he converses in nearly all of the threads here, he seems to lack what it takes to connect with you guys in a calm and normal conversive arena of opinions, and that's probably why the majority of his postings result in some kind of insulting argument.

Now he brought up the Rosario kid from San Diego area. The early numbers on this kid sound really great. He could be a kid to watch in the coming recruitment year...the only problem however is that if he came here, we'd get stuck with the captains BS too. Then, if he managed to get himself into a some kind of trouble...holy hell would erupt! I can see it all now. Another 85 postings web thread and bitterness throughout.

Golo...whatever he called me..

El Capitan said:

Where do you get that moderator from? You are the one playing moderator. I am entitled to my opinion just like you are. Do you have a problem with that? Golohead and his buddies accuse of me of the race garbage. It's a double standard with you guys. It's OK to bash a Latin player constantly without: EVIDENCE-just opinion of the usual suspects court. Is that OK with you ROB? If you want to interpret Latin flavor with a racist comment then dance with your music nobody is stopping you.
Golohead Oceanside is 35 miles NORTH of San Diego. Can't read and can't tell north from south some IQ, WOW! Get your geography straight: estupido!
BTW golohead check Major League Baseball: Latin players RULE, eat that. Make-up any team against the Latin players team and the Latin players will destroy any team you throw, golohead eat that.

LBC_ROB said:

Captain, I get the moderator thing from you telling people to watch their mouths and telling people witch High School ranking is better than other ones and so on and so fourth. I am a Sanchez defender; I was one of the people who wanted to see him in a real game time situation this year. As I said the only person that brings up race in here is you! You and you alone I think that we all know by now that you are Latin you only bring it up in every other post.
Goliath Trojan, Yep I think that you just said it all brother.

El Capitan said:

LBC_ROB:
With ALL due respect I thought you were smarter than your quotes and spelling reflect. Dramatically stated I mean bad! HS rating ratings were broght-up to compare Mustain VS Sanchez' stats. The fact that I mentioned WR Nelson Rosario is simply to share information. If you have a problem with get yourself a shot of tequila(a sarcastic substitute). I would have preferred to mention a nasty and vulgar one but thanks to the Enlish language sarcasm it will do. Like I said if the fact that I stated Latin flavor and you want to turn that into a racial remark then the hell with it and you for that matter Mr. Delicate-sensitive. Do you need a rag for your crocodile or hypocrite tears, too?
ROB baby they called the Latin lover because I stole good looking American women from ugly Anglos like you! Just dark and handsome like in Gone With The Wind, ha, ha!

LBC..Ya know what is so incredible is that Sanchez and ANYONE ELSE who is a QB at USC will compete in 2008 and the best player will get the starting nod. It just wont be the Orange County Mexican, The Arkansas Redneck or the Lutheran Carrot Top or the Catholic Hurdler from the Valley....It will just be the best suited candidate based on competition. Sanchez is a great QB prospect, just lacking true underfire NCAA game experience ..just as JDB endured at the onset of last season. Just as Aaron Corp or Garrett Green will also endure. They will all get to compete though and the best suited for the job will get it. It's all good. It will even be better as time gets closer. The only thing that we need to take out of the equation so that it continues to be just quality Trojan football competition and preparation is that self agrandizing racebating psycopathic enabler who's sole reason to be here is to further his agenda of flaming anyone who is not of Latin decent. So my last post in this thread "Sick" says it all.

My best friend in HS was black. My best two friends when I was in the Marine Corps were black and chicano respectively. I mentioned I'm catholic. A jewish rabi from NY helped me a lot while I was a Marine. So there you have it. You and the rest of the usual suspects can speculate all you want. Like Robert DeNiro said while playing Al Capone in The Untouchables: "You ain't got nothing on me".

JJH4USC said:

Wow! Who knew El Capitan had such a large network of friends on Friendster.

PS - What’s a “jewish rabi” ? Is that slang for a Jewish Rabbi?

PSS - IF El Capitan really served our country and was a Marine you got to give him props! (But that still doesn’t excuse some of the asinine postings.)

El Capitan said:

JJ you are righty I misspelled rabbi-touche. Like Capone said:"You ain't got nothing on me". JJ I take my Marine Corps years seriously. A friendly advice don't go there, OK, GOT IT? Let me give an analogy your BR life is your business and my service to this nation is sacred business as well. Lay off while you are ahead. I won't tell you again.

JJH4USC said:

EC,

Stop...read the post...and relax. Like I said...anyone that serves their country gets props and nothing but respect from me. One of my best friends and one of my cousins were in the Marines, so you are preaching to the choir. On a side note...one of my best friends also grew up to become a rabi or Rabbi!
