I just don't see the point of him transferring because of Sanchez, as well as Corp coming in. Maybe he is seeing something I'm not?

Who the hell wants a guy that saw the going get tough at Ark,so he bailes on his team instead of competes harder. The same kid that wouldn't even commit to them unless his HS coach was hired as his OC and personal nose wiper. There's no way that he'll beat out Sanchy or Corp..and he'll then get even more pissed and become a malcontent here also. Hell, I'd bet that El Capitan could probably throw downfield better than this big erratic kid also. Why MM would throw away a year of elgibility to become 3rd or 4th on our depth chart is beyond me. This big chicken needs to go to Westweed and beg Karl Dorito for a chance to play with Miguelita and her sister Reelruinista.

If the kid wants to compete, I'm happy to have him. It only helps us if the best QB wins. He was a highly touted recruit - let him show what he's got. As for him leaving Arkansas; they have a ground game and kid wants to throw. Coach tells him their going to keep it on the ground, so he looks elsewhere. Can't really get too upset with him for that.

Good point matthew, except that with McFadden, Ark did have a fabulous ground game. That one single outstanding RB should have opened up the passing game, but MM was incapable of throwing the pig downfield, having to rely almost totally on the short dumpoffs and underneath stuff. They put in Dick and got only slightly better through the air and then ended up having to keep it on the ground because of a lack of ability to "air it out" downfield. Hell matthew, if I were a QB, i'd love to see an 8 man front to throw over. I'd bet that Damian Williams is praying that MM does not come here.

Aaron Corp is going to give everyone a run for their money. This kid is for real and the fastest qb I have ever seen compete in the hardest place to play high school football, Southern California. He is a State Champion qb for that and he is also a leader in the locker room and as a person. Bruce in Anaheim Hills

Maybe you all do not remember the last quarter of the Arkansas game this past season, when the game was long ago over, but then second-string MM drove the hogs down the field for a TD in record time, and threw many very good quality passes in the process. He looked good, and should have been the starter that day.
Give the guy a chance - he liked what he saw back then, he was just on the wrong side of the ball!!!

Gillyking, I think you're being a bit harsh. I, too, initially was put off by the reports out of Arkansas about the parents of the 3 players asking to sit down to talk about their sons' futures. However, it's not as straightforward as it appears, I don't think. A lot of Arkansas fans are not happy with the behavior of Coach Houston Nutt and how he handled things. Again, I understand your concern, but a lot of what you first posted here is heresay and rumor. Check out some Razorbacks websites to see what's being discussed. If nothing else, I trust that Pete Carroll would not be interested in signing up some prima donna he didn't think was going to work within his system.

Having said that, I agree that Aaron Corp is going to give Sanchez a run for his money.

Mitch Mustain will start for USC as soon as be becomes eligible for the 2008 season.

He was the Gatorade, USA Today and Parade Magazine National Player of the Year after leading Springdale High School to a perfect 14-0 season and a state championship.

He went 8-0 in the games he started as a true freshman at Arkansas in 2006.

Sanchez is a dead man walking. Mustain is the future of USC's quarterback corp (no pun intended).

I will be glad to see Mustain representing the Trojans and see him as the future starter as soon as he becomes eligible in 2008.

His record on the football field speaks for itself.

Call it hear-say if you wish, I just wrote what I thought based on what I took out of trying to follow the college football season. What I wrote, I believe. So, as far as I'm concerned, it's going to be wait and see for me. All I know is that I want my teams players to be real competitors and I love that aspect about the Trojans philosophy. I guess we'll all find out about him if he comes here eh?

I also recall that MM had a nice series IN GARBAGE TIME after SC'd already accomplished the total destruction of the Hogs by then. It really didn't impress at the time.

I also wonder just how great the state HS championship was in Arkansas? I wonder if the Trinity League that young Mr Corp won, and CIF division state championship he then won in a blowout wasn't far superior? (not to forget mentioning the fact that Orange Lutheran was such a small school program also)

Look, I'll be the first one to applaud him if he comes here, competes and earns a place on PCs field...I just honestly doubt that it's going to happen, and I'd really hope to use that scholly to better advantage.

As Matt Cassel can attest, even being the 2nd string USC QB can be a great NFL opportunity. Thats a pretty good worst case scenario for Mitch. (assuming he beats out either Sanchez or Corp - or Crist next year).

Is anyone else excited to see Aaron Corp in action? If he beats out the competition, I wonder if Pete will change the offense to accomodate his running skills (ala Reggie Bush)? I hope he doesn't just become the scout QB for those weeks we play a program with a mobile QB (see Oregon).

Hasn't Houston Nutt been 'in 'n' out' of 'vacant' coaching positions repeatedly the past 3 years?

I'm no fan of players trasnferring from one program to another but if they sit out the required time before joining the new squad so what? The coaches are free to come and go as they see fit. I'm not an advocate of any type of similar 'right' being given players. The ensuing chaos would be unbelievable.

If the kid can out play Sanchez et. al. then so be it I mean he isn't transferring to the 'bel-airians' campus (...hey let's go over to Hef's 'hutch' maybe we can re-enact Cade McKnown circa 1998 - to the hills of limousine liberal land!
