No Would Suffice

It looks like the Chargers do not have Pete Carroll as a candidate at the moment. Still, Carroll could have said, ``I'm not interested'' yesterday instead of ``I've got nothing for you. I'm not talking about it,'' to ease fears of antsy fans.

maybe he thinks it's irrelevant- a waste of time...Is he going to be mentioned every time there's a vacancy?

maybe it's the media's frenzy!!!

it is a strange comment -- but it is possible pete is just trying to play mind games with the media. it is sort of fun to make someone think something might be happening when nothing could be furthur from the truth. at the same time you cannot ignore that is comment is different from every other comment pete has made when it comes to a pro coaching situation. add to that the fact is he DID meet with the dolphins. why take time out of your vacation. although there is even an explanation for that -- pete supposedly got an increase in pay from the boosters.

But then you wouldn't have been able to write 4 out of your last 5 posts! And it is way more fun to watch all of the Bruin fans get so excited at the prospect of Pete leaving USC, and then see their disappointment when Carroll comes back for another year.

Question guys and dolls:
Would someone please explain how the boosters' pay work? How can legally they can increase anybody's slary?
Thank you,
El Capitan

I hope you know that I meant salary. BTW it looks like all the typekey bugs have been removed from the system.
Thnx

He won't say no because he's not an idiot.

If there's some slim chance the Chargers do offer him everything he wants - full control and 7 mill+ he is gone. He would be a fool to turn that down - with the talent on that roster.

I also think it would be a cold day in hell before the Chargers ever offer any coach full control and as a result I doubt PC leaves.

I love USC and would mourn the loss of PC but I realize that it's foolish to think he doesn't have a price. Everyone has a price.

PC has done a marvelous job, no question. I however, get tired of hearing that he might jump back into the NFL, is SC just a stepping stone to something better, what's wrong with this man, the past six years at SC is the most success he has ever had and he wants to jump ship. Where is the devotion and commitment of the Bear Bryant's and Joe Paterno's to their programs, PC surely doesn't express it. If he does leave it would be a blow to the entire University, life however doesn't end nor does the Football program cease because of his departure.
