Servite tailback D.J. Shoemate wants to serve as an unofficial recruiter to help convince other prospects to come to USC.
It's a role similar to one served by Chris Galippo this year and Mark Sanchez and Jeff Byers previously.

Disappointing, I would hope a Servite education would help them see through the smoke and snake oil from PC's mouth. Oh well. Im sure "x" is clean and clear recruiting at Servite. Is it legal for an athlete's father to recruit? DJ is a phenominal athlete. Hope the injury bug doesnt stick with him his four years. GO Bruins!

bruinchamp,
An oxymoron if I ever read one, why show up on a Trojan blog? Things not so well over in Bruinland? Snake oil is it, who have you guys landed and where does your recruiting class rank? What is coming out of KD's mouth? Run along now, I'm finished with you!

Let's hope DJ has as much success in this capacity as our previous anchor recruits. Bruinchamp - please crawl back into your hole.

bruinchump...you actually wish an injury on a young athlete...your sick....the bruin's don't show up on any radar in major league football programs....get a life...go graduate from somthing then get a job.

bruinchamp said:

Well firstly, i never wished an injury on DJ. He has been plagued by a serious foot unjury his entire football career. Dont believe me ask him. Also, this was never an attack. Just a thought an opinon, isnt that the point of a BLOG. In fact i read this everyday. Why, you little trojoids may ask: one simple rule of thumb. Know your enemy better than your ally. Plain and simple. Now to address the snake oil Mr Petey reguritates. Or do you want me to start off with his "questionable" recruiting practices. Ask McKnight if he has a voice. He tries to explain the fact of a matter, and instantaneously his agent, err coach steps in and politically answers the question. I will continue to come here i will continue to voice my reason, and at any time you all can show up at BRO. Its an open forum just like this little haven.

Welcome Bruinchamp,

You have joined the growing list of esteemed Bruin bloggers like Bill, jtk, ReelBruin, miguelito, and Hermosa Bruin that bring us Trojans very insightful and educational posts. There is nothing better than a Bruin that wastes their time at work (although half the individuals I listed are unemployed) or their free time reading about and actually writing posts about USC sports...on a USC blog.

And if you have any questions about recruiting violations, just ask Wooden, Jim Harrick, or Kareem Rush.

FYI - DJ’s Servite education allowed him to realize that it is better to be on a team where a “huge upset” is what happens when you lose, not when you win.

bruinchamp said:

Ok JJH4USC. HaHa ask Servite if theyve beat MD in 18 years or the last time they beat Edison. You trojans are hysterical. Yea a huge upset only happens when they lose. Get your facts straight or just attain some facts. DJ, this is not an atack on you! Just on your future fellow alumni. BTW how USC needs so many of its own people to succeed.

shoemate is listed as WR on scout.com ??

JJH4USC, you get a lot of breaks working at Jack in the Box they have plenty of time to come on here...

Well, this is getting pathetic. I don't know how many fans of the University of Crap or whatever UCLA stands for, are on this site, but it's getting ridiculous.

At first I could see why a few of them were on here, I mean, what are you going to talk about on a UCLA football website???

"Man our coach sucks"

"Man our team sucks"

"I hate losing 6 games every year..."

"boy we really got our asses beat by FSU in that bowl game"

"Our recruiting class this year was really small and crappy..."

"Well, UCLA really doesn't have touch academic standards at all..so.."

"hey let's talk about John Wooden in 1969 again!"

Not really fun things to talk about. But this has gotten out of hand.

Look UCLA posers, we realize you are jealous of USC's success and your immature, dumb response is to go on a USC website and bother people.

dang are you tired of walking around with the "L" on your forehead?

Get a life, stop bugging us, and go back to your stupid UCLA websites and talk some more about UCLA basketball in 1971 or whatever the hell UCLA retards talk about.

Well look at that...another 5 star running back headed to SC!

Must suck to be a bruin fan...

Has SC beat UCLA in anything this year? You must forgive me, I grew up watching UCLA beat SC every year (8 years in a row...the series record btw) so it might take a few more posts until I get all the pent up boasting out of me. Have a great evening......bitches

Rothstar said:

I've tried going on UCLA's blog and it just sucks. No relavent information other than another coach is leaving for another school and a real opportunity to win a BSC game - their words, not mine. I've also tried to write a few blogs to stir things up and nothing happens. UCLA fans just crater under the pressure. I've seen JJH4SC just pound UCLA fans on their blog, it's great. I say give it a shot.

Let's give them something to talk about...

USC1966,

The next time you address me, I’d appreciate it if you could do it using complete sentences. Regardless, I was able to get the gist of your post. Maybe one day when you have a lot of Bruins that work for you, and you become older and more successful (okay when you become more successful, because if you are a ‘66 grad you have the older part down), you can take more breaks too!

But aside from the beginning, the rest of your post was pretty entertaining!

PS - How is the weather in Michigan treating you? A little rain last night, but sunny skies here in SoCal today.

I have a suggestion to all the Trojans reading this blog: stop giving bruin posters the attention they want. Just ignore their posts.

Think of it this way: if UCLA was getting all the media hype and playing for national championships every year there would probably be a number of jealous SC fans flaming them on their own blog for satisfaction.

I've said this before but it bears repeating - why would anyone celebrate beating their rival by 4 points if it didn't mean anything to their team's overall success? Because their program is on dismal and that's the only thing they can say for themselves.

It's a loser mentality; don't give in to them.

JJH4USC said:

Miguelito,

When UCLA beat USC 8 times in a row, how many National Championships did they win...how many Rose Bowls/BCS Games did they win...Heismans? Just curious.

Rothstar,

Your heart is in the right place, but unfortunately Brian Dohn sensors the posts on his Blog, unlike Scott (which is evident from the Usual Suspects that Scott puts through...i.e., Miguelito, ReelBruin, El Capitan, etc.). And Mr. Dohn’s website is not very entertaining because if you look at the number of responses that the majority of his posts receive, they usually say “0" (hence that is why we find the miguelitos, ReelBruins, and Hermosa Bruins of the world on Scott’s Blog).

I've noticed the censoring too... I guess that's what you need to do to protect those fragile minds over there in public school, "they're picking on me again!!!!".

Let them post here, I like to see their sad jealous emerald colored strips come out.

Rothstar said:

I just heard UCLA accepted a bid to the Emerald Bowl for next year. Afraid they might miss out if they wait any longer...

Geoff Author Profile Page said:

So let me try to understand your logic here...

USC gets advocates, not just recruits, and it's a knock against them.

UCLA (at home) plays their best game in years and barely beats a USC team that was looking ahead to the National Championship, despite a late drive that we all know had UCLA recalling what happened in South Bend. This after USC dominates UCLA for years, with highly embarassing results.

USC goes to a BCS Bowl game for four straight years while UCLA visits El Paso and a baseball stadium.

USC has four losses over the past several years, less than UCLA's total for the entire 2006 season.

UCLA gets blown out when they lose, USC hasn't lost by a touchdown or more in several years. And when USC loses, it's at the last minute and on the last drive of the game.

USC plays for National Championships, UCLA for second or third place (at best).

I could go on...

Sure, you guys have the better program.

I think Scott poses as Miguelito, BruinChamp, ReelBruin and other Bruin persona. It is the only way he can get some action.... on his website that is!

Ya gotta come make fun of the bruins with me on Brian's site. I accused Brian of censoring the site and he wrote back (unlike Scott...) that he never censors. It's too funny to see you pound away at the baby blues. Come on!

Honest question about DJ Shoemate:

I've never seen him play in person, but all his numbers i've seen on different sites seem to show he is almost a replica of Whitney Lewis physically.
Both are 6'0 maybe 6'1, both around 205, both are WR/RB hybrids and both have good speed.
Is there anything to this observation or am i hopfully wrong to compare?

bruinchamp said:

Honestly, go see one of Servite's games next year, he is that good. Shoemate is huge even after a year out of ball. with him Servite would have beaten every team that stepped on the field with them last year. Would have the media saying Oaks WHO? Hes a complete player. Is impressive at every position he playes. He is an athlete with a ridiculous ceiling. Whitney hit a wall, DJ will not and with his work ethic and Servites teachings, he should be an AA just like Kalil and just how McGuire should have been. Its hard to take but with the three Servite kids and the Two OLU kids USC did very well. However like i said at the every beginning, his foot has been a problem for awhile now. Good luck to him. Like always this is all just potential, will he realize it is the gamble every coach takes.

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
