He must be preparing to lead the team that he will be starting for in 2008!

Go, Mitch!

Scott, why do you keep referring to Mustain as the "Arkanas quarterback" when he actually left Arkansas last month? That would be the equivalent of calling Rocky Hines the "USC quarterback."

Anyway, I have nothing but good feelings about Mustain.

That would be a valid criticism ESPYSport if Mitch Mustain wasn't from the STATE of Arkansas. With that little fact known, The Scottmeister's use of that phrase is appropriate.

I believe Mustain is also still enrolled at the university even though he left the football team.

Greg - I would also assume that he is still an enrolled student at Arkansas. Simply getting a release from his athletic scholarship does not mean that would cease being an enrolled student. After all, he has to maintain his status as a full-time student in order to maintain his eligibility for the next year, even if he has to sit out under NCAA rules.

Nevertheless, Mitch Mustain enrolling at USC is very big news.

Do you think Arkansas fans hate any football program more than USC right now?
First we beat the Hogs 70-17 in the Coliseum, then we go to Arkansas and beat them 55-14, then we steal their prized WR recruit, Damian Williams, and now we are going to take their starting QB...pretty awesome. The Trojans pretty much own the Hogs right now.

All in all, my favorite thing about Mustain considering SC is that at the end of the day, SC is again loaded for the future at quarterback and running back with sick talent and UCLA sucks. Their coach sucks, their recruiting sucks and while someone like Mustain could easily head over to westwood and start next year, that's not even in his thinking. It's halarious. He, like Corp or any of our running backs, would rather run the risk of never playing then be a Bruin....it must suck to be a Bruin.

My friends and I have a saying that when you're having a bad day, "Well, at least we're not Bruins!"

While Mitch attends this winter workout, I'm hoping the Arkansas native gets a taste of what championship football is all about - hard work in the off-season. If he decides to join the team, I would certainly have to give him props. That would tell me that he is not afraid of competing against the best, versus looking elsewhere for a job to be handed to him. My only question is, if he should join USC, how will he react if he does not win the starting job in '08? Will he pout and eventually transfer somewhere else, or will he "cowboy up" and work even harder to compete for playing time? A successful college QB is not built overnight and I hope he has learned his lesson. On top of that, it is all about team chemistry - playing with the same guys for some time. Mitch had that with his high school WR & TE at Arkansas, but not with the others. Hopefully, he can stay put somewhere long enough to establish consistency and chemistry, just like John David, Matt, and Carson did.
