Center Of Attention

A big question with the start of spring practice will be the center position. Ryan Kalil is finally gone after four years and Jeff Byers, the heir apparent missed most of last season with a back injury. Byers said he feels much better now.
Other candidates include Matt Spanos, ineligible last season, and Nick Howell, who tore the ligaments in the finger of offensive line coach Pat Ruel during a snapping drill last season.

I do hope O'Dowd comes in during the fall and wins Center outright for the next three or four years.

Whether it will be Rocky Mountain Byers, Trojan blood-line Howell, "re-eligible" Spanos or the Freshmen Freak O'Dowd, the center position will continue as a show piece and a strength of the "O-line". Fight on!

O'Dowd and Byers are studs, that's for sure. I don't know much about howell except that he was a 3 star recruit on scout.com

We have a shortage on the O-line. We really needed that FL kid, wilson, at Guard.

If Byers moves to Center, who plays LG next year? Baker and Spanos will be gone..Move Thomas Herring over there? Butch Davis? Kalil's brother?

I agree with Trojan JP I would like to see O'Dowd at center this year and leave everyone else where they are.

Ryan Kalil, greatest Trojan center of all time.

Ryan Kalil, greatest Trojan center of all time.
