Dropping Down
Most players want to gain weight in the offseason but sophomore safety Taylor Mays, who weighed as much as 235 pounds this winter, wants to drop 10 pounds. Mays could easily get bigger because of his size, but needs to stay in the 220's to keep his quickness at safety.

Wow, even at 220-225 with Mays speed and height, that is a future 1st team AA and first round pick.
It is like having a Calvin Johnson in the secondary.
Anyone know who's favored to get the starting jobs at safety with Pinkard back? Is it going to be Mays and Pinkard?
Rumor has it that it will be Ellison and Pinkard with Mays coming rotating in.
But Mays may perhaps change that with a good spring showing.
No way Mays sits!
I hope not...kids a freak of nature when it comes to talent.
either way... it's a real good problem to have!
I'm sure DeSean Jackson's shaking in his cleats hoping never to see Kevin Ellison on the field again.
He looks like he is still filling out. It would seem he is heading to linebacker at some point - either in college or in the pros like Urlacher.
Hopfully if he can keep fat off, put muscle on and maintain a 230 range he could create a new type of Safety-LB hyrid.
