Scott, it what most true scouts call a "soft" verbal. Im sure youve heard of it, Broderick Green was a fine example out of your recruiting class last year. Lo and behold he signed with the trojans, shaky? havent you claimed that for almost half the recruits that were signed that day. To inform JP, he still has UCLA #1 on his list, but will shop around and will make all five trips. Not too uncommon of a practice for a March commit. Some actuall info, im trying to skirt my poor behavior. Go Bruins.

I hate to repeat myself, but the record shows that Dorrell almost never loses a recruit once he's verballed. In fact, in his four years at UCLA, Coach Dorrell has failed to sign (and qualify) a grand total of *3* of his verbal commits:
*Chris Conte, in '07 (who had already verballed once to the school he eventually signed with: Cal)
*Walter Watts in '05 ('cause of grades).
*Kaluka Maiava, in '04 (who the Trojans legitimatly stole away from UCLA).

So if past is prologue, Datonte Jones is highly, highly, highly likely to be wearing powderkeg blue come January. Ditto for Hester, Moore and Woods (last week's candidates for Bruin-commits-who-supposedly-are-wavering).

Doubtless, you Trojans will sign a great class. You always do. It's just very unlikely that Jones, Hester, Moore or Woods will be a part of it.

Here's my take: None of this matters until the teams take the field. If CKD falls flat this year with what should be a big year for him, none of those kids will stick.

What's with all the chatter about 2008 recruits? A lot can happen between now and then - like another USC national championship - or not. I am a lifelong trojan fan, and alum, and it's way too early to get so excited. Let's concentrate on spring practice and the spring game, and THIS season - the results will probably do more to determine next year's recruiting class than anything else.

JJ, why does your school participate and provoke unaccepted practices more than any other school accross the country. Why do you attack Wooden, becuase at 96 he is still sharper than all the trojan intellect combined. Or is it the fact that even cheating off your gorde, Floyd still will not be able to put a championship run together. All the help in the world will not get that man a Title, he had Marcus Fizer at ISU, colleges highest paid athlete, even more than ol Regginald, result, multiple choke jobs. Carolina was not that good this year, your coach just found a way to loose focus, not call timeouts and send the game down the tubes. That must hurt, so close JJ but so far. Same Prep School same Home School as Taj, hmmm they must be beyond intelligent, at this point they should all be graduating with their PhD, but no instead they just barely finish the credits necessary to be admitted into the Clearing House.

And as far as Gilbert is concerned, whats your point. Everyone understands what role he played, he was with UCLA unitl '83. Now tell me Wooden only put those banners up becuase of Gilbert. During a time when race and war was flooding the country, Wooden was able to corral 10 guys 10 different times and dominate the land. Please, Wooden was a winner everywhere he went. He won as a player with Purdue, the man understands, teaches, motivates, and performs on a level well above any of us can ever dream of.

What about McKinght, how on National Television he declared that only days before he was on a conference call with Petey Pete and Reginald regarding the pending sanctions. What about the 300 pills of ecstasy found under Wrights bed. Why was he never brought infront of a jury, only removing him from the institution. Please, dont start with a pissing match. Dont ever attack my character, you do not know anything about me. Keep your life relevant to what you find important. Winning at any cost, regardless of who you run over on your way to self proclaimed glory. How can you be proud of a program as dirty as SC, and only produce one BCS title? Your self proclaimed Dynasty is a joke, call Wooden, hell call Gilbert he witnessed first hand what a true dynasty accomplishes. USC has done nothing but detract from the game, allowing steriod distributors to compete on the roster, removing Reginalds privilege to attend The Rose Bowl, yup a true Trojan Family. Fan - Well why didn’t you just say Pomona instead of being a smart ass? Pomona is a great school...academically...butit still doesn’t give you much credibility on a USC Football Blog (but I think we have already covered that topic). And I guess I can’t really blame you for spending your time and reading about Trojans Football on Scott’s Blog because there probably are not too many Blogs discussing Pomona’s dominance over Pitzer, Claremont McKenna or Harvey Mudd.

On a side note, one of my close friends attended Pomona (and played on the water polo team), but he tells people that he went to “Pomona”...not “Cal Poly”. Kind of like how my friends...I mean associates...that went to UCLA don’t say they went to “University of California” and are “University of California fans.”

I don't know any 22-year-olds graduating with PhDs. Most 22-year-olds are entering the job world or Master's programs. But talking about geezers just starting out, how's the Olson twin doing?

Wright was to be sanctioned by student affairs after suspension from the team. But he left the university instead. Trust me, I was the one who followed the saga in the summer DT.
