What's It Worth?

USC's overtime victory over Stanford in the Pac-10 Tournament will boost the Trojans' seeding in the NCAA Tournament to sixth or seventh, according to sources within the program. If USC keeps winning, the same sources believe the Trojans could go as high as fourth.

This from the NYTIMES:

"The Bruins approached the Pacific-10 tournament as if they had no need for it, and now the selection committee must decide whether to punish them. U.C.L.A., the top seed in the Pac-10 tournament, was upset Thursday night by eighth-seeded California, 76-69, in overtime in a quarterfinal game."

76-69 BWAHAHA, you guys stink!

Nothing funnier than arriving and parking at Staples Center with my fellow Trojans for the SC/Stanford Game (all beaming after listening to CAL punk UCLA on the radio) and then watching as the exodus of unhappy Bruins immediately begin to flow out of Staples.

The best part was watching some bold Trojan drive down Figueroa in his SUV (decked out with SC plates and flags), actually stop his car in the middle of Fig and ask a group of thirty or so powder blue baby Bruins who won the UCLA Game....the angry looks on their faces were priceless...and not a single Bruin responded....but then a Trojan crossing Fig yelled out CAL!

And boy was that a tail of two halves. Stanford dominated the first half, but then the Trojans really caught on fire in the 2nd half and OT. Hopefully, SC can put two more strong games together and go on a little run in the Tourney. How great would it be if UCLA also got knocked out in the Big Dance before the Trojans!

Also, nice to see Pete come to the game in the 2nd half and sit down amongst all of the Trojan alums and support the team. And I saw Wolfie in the house, hanging out in the tunnel to the locker rooms during the Washington/Washington State Game.

Good luck tonight Trojans! Fight On!

PS - Cal 76, UCLA 69 F/OT; Pac 10 Player of the Year - A. Afflalo with 3 pts.

P.S.S. 13-9

and we beat you TWICE in hoops this year.

NE14USC,

I can't wait for one of the Bruins to come on and say that they are just focused on winning a National Championship. The sad looks on all of the Bruin faces outside of Staples Center paint a different picture...they were not cool with the loss. And what is that, the 2nd loss in a row now...to another UC School that had to win a play-in game the night before just to face UCLA? That should be great momentum for the Big Dance, but I am sure you will be well rested for the Tourney.

PS Bruins - 76-69

Hey 13-9,

76-69

#1 seed beaten by #8 seed

wannabe PAC10 champ, dont thinks so.......
The Trojans now have a legit chance of being PAC 10 tourney Champs.........where are the bRUINS???

LOL!!!

Awe richjh9, I am sorry for your loss. And what do you do the day after UCLA loses at Basketball?...you come on to a USC Blog and share your pain with us Trojans. Thank you!

Too bad USC didn't have a third shot at UCLA, but UCLA had to go on and LOSE TO CAL. Thanks a lot, now I have to go to Staples and watch Oregon v. CAL instead of Oregon v. UCLA!

PS - 76-69

PS - Emerald Bowl Loss

PS - USC is still playing in the Pac 10 Tourney, and UCLA is not.

PS - Pac 10 Player of the Year A. Afflalo is held to 3 pts. in a LOSS to CAL!

HAHAHAHAHA!!!

USC TALKING ABOUT HOOPS???

WHEN A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP FIRST, THEN TALK.

You guys have always been SUC hop fans right?

ALSO, WHAT IS A “hop fan”? IS THAT A PUBLIC SCHOOL WAY OF SAYING “hoop fan”?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

ENJOY WATCHING USC CONTINUE PLAYING IN THE PAC 10 TOURNEY WHILE UCLA SITS AT HOME!!!

PS - HOW MANY NCAA BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS HAS UCLA WON THIS CENTURY?...............THE SAME AMOUNT AS UCLA...................ZERO!!!!!!!!!!

HAHAHAHAHA!!!

uzair3_21

You wrote "WHEN A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP FIRST, THEN TALK."

Uh, public education, eh?

You're here, spewing "Bruin Crap" on an 'SC blog, you are truly pathetic.

A better question for you is, "win" any Pacific-10 tournament games?

I didn't think so.

BWAHAHA!

Bruins are pathetic.

You win you come here for validation. You lose you come here to make excuses. Have you no self-respect? Why don't you go to your own boards. Is it because they don't exist? Or is it because you crave USC's approval.

We don't care about your teams. They all suck ass...and now apparently in both sports.

13-9 should have been a launching point for your football program but you have already squandered it. PC has made it his mission to destroy UCLA next year (you can already see it on the recruiting trail) - and you'll be back to square one, (looking for a new football coach) in 2008.

While USC is focused on winning Rose Bowls and NCs you are clinging onto a regular season win that did nothing for your future. But that's typical Bruin thought process - focus on the past instead of the future. (But we were the best in basketball, but we have 1 football shared NC)

It's what separates the teams that matter from the teams that don't (ND is the same way in football. Most of their NCs were won before football was even integrated. How sad is that?)

What will you do once USC catches up to you in basketball? It's not that far away.

Oh that's right - you'll still have 13-9.

Sad, pathetic losers...have some dignity.

P.S. Emerald Bowl update: Florida State just scored again...

Tyler...you comment EVERY time the term "13-9" appears in the comments section of this blog...you can tell that loss eats at you every day...if it didn't you wouldn't have any need to throw in your two cents and call bruin fans "pathetic" over and over...you remind me of one of this right wing wackos like Ted Haggard who are stuck on a single topic as their agenda with so much passion only to find out that they belong to the same group they are against...it's obvious that you are an angry individual...you're amusing...I'll give you that...please tell me you're an SC grad b/c it would be sad if you were this wrapped up in a subject and you're an outsider whose education ended at Santa Monica College...which I suspect...

richjh9....right now I think probably purchasing tickets to the entire Pac 10 Tourney and taking time off work, expecting to see UCLA play Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (in UCLA’s most important sport) , and then watching your Bruins lose in the first round to a bad CAL play-in team 76-69 (the 2nd loss in a row), and then being stuck at Staples Center today (and Saturday) watching USC still playing Basketball (a sport that is clearly 2nd tier at USC, which you wouldn’t know since we have a far superior basketball facility)...that probably hurts the most.

Oh...and “your” favorite Emerald Bowl? I think you are a little confused after that LOSS to CAL. FYI - USC’s favorite Bowl Games start with “BCS”, not “Emerald.”

And by your dismissive comments as to the Emerald Bowl, I take it you are clearly a basketball fan (by the way did you hear UCLA lost to CAL 76-69?) and not a REAL football fan...except when the Bruins have their occasional “upset” win over USC. And why is it that it is only called an upset when UCLA wins, and not USC?...oh yeah, because UCLA continuously sucks at Football!

Here at USC, we have moved on from that 13-9 fluke and are looking forward to watching another stellar recruiting class and watching the preseason No.1 Football Team. Enjoy choking in the NCAA Tourney, followed by another great 7-6 UCLA Football Team!

Good luck today Trojans! Fight On!

Dear Bruins,

I am glad that you are able to emotionally cope with what must really be a painful loss to CAL in YOUR NO. 1 SPORT by continuing to come onto a USC SPORTS BLOG...the day after. And A. Afflalo, the Pac 10 Player of the Year, being held to only 3 points?...very disappointing.

I thank you on behalf of us Trojans for sharing, first hand how great the disappointment truly is when you lose a first round Pac 10 Tourney Game in OT to an inferior opponent. By the way did any of you Bruins stay around at Staples after the LOSS and watch how a team is supposed to win an OT Tourney Game?

FYI notrichjh9 - About 25% of UCLA Graduates are 2 Year Community College Transfers, and of that 25%, the majority are from Santa Monica Community College...but I am sure YOU already knew that.

On a side note, Rothstar, what is that website again so the Trojans can share their condolences with the Bruin Basketball fans?

Sorry, I have to go now and actually get some work done before I go to Staples today...my team is still playing in the Pac 10 Tourney!

Fight On!

Come one, come all - picking on Bruins is fun!!!

Can anyone tell me what time the UCLA basketball game is tonight? I don't see it listed anywhere online.....

richjh9,

Couple things...

1. I intentionally don't comment after every UCLA post because it's not worth my time and they are far too numerous...but yes I did comment on this post and 1-2 more in the past 3 weeks. Get your facts straight.

2. I find it funny that I remind you of right wing whackos for posting different posts each time but you and your idiot bruin friends are sane for posting the same thing (13-9) over and over again on a board that doesn't even concern you.

3. Also amusing is the fact that you refer to me as a SMC grad while you display no comprehension of the proper use of the ellipsis (that's this "..." symbol). It's not meant as a substitute for a period. Or did they not teach that at UCLA?

4. Are you seriously calling me out (and yes I'm a USC grad) for commenting on a USC board? I have a reason to be here. Why are you?

You idiots have hijacked enough posts on this USC board - grow up already. Bring something new to the table or shut up.

the irony is that i'm have my undergrad from UCLA and my MBA from Marshall. people like you amuse me though...getting all worked up over stuff you can't control and furthermore stuff that could care less about you. i think it's great that you call me an idiot and a few words later tell me that i need to "grow up".

Dear bel-airians 'switch locations of USC and UCLA and none of the johnny whitebread limousine lovers of John edwards would ever go to the new locale of UCLA - then again it could at least validly be called UCLA' your turn bel-air boyos.

For those of you that are USC hoops fans, Matthew Kredell has his own blog at www.insidesocal.com/uschoops. He does an excellent job covering the basketball team for DN and could use some of this love.

Also checkout uschoops.com, where you will find the diehard SC basketball fans.
