About Inside USC
Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC
graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for
the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet
message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this
moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in
antagonizing the "Internet geeks."

I'm not going to begrudge DJ's decision to leave since a lot of times there are cases of legitimate financial need for families and also because he did so much for 'SC and for catching that ball from Matt at Notre Dame!!!
But this does show that PC knows what he's talking about when he says unless you are a top pick at your position, it doesn't make sense to leave early for the draft. Look how staying another year helped Steve Smith and on the flip side with Matt staying another year when he was top ranked at the QB spot, he did lose money the following year.
It's sad how so many kids enter early on promises by shady agents that they'll be drafted high when in fact if they bother really listening to NFL player personnel and pay attention to how they stack up to others at their position, they might avoid situations like DJ when he falls way down from where the hype had him.
Good luck to him anyway, he was a great Trojan!
Every year this happens. Juniors have visions that they are for sure first rounders, come out early and drop. Unless you are ranked in the top two at your position AND have great speed based upon your size, you need to stay in school. One other caveat, if you have any blemishes on your record, you will drop if you come out early.
Hopefully, Turner and Hazelton learn from Jarrett’s mistakes.
How'd it work out for Bing and all those other jr's that left after the loss to texas?
No - but it is the face of a really pissed off draft pick. DJ will need that attitude at the next level if he's gonna prove the pundit's wrong and I really hope he does.
I still refuse to believe that there were 7 WRs better than DJ in the draft - that is just flat out ridiculous. Especially after seeing what he did against OU, UT and Michigan in the 3 bowl games. The NFL's need to second guess on-field production at the highest level is baffling.
Dwayne Jarrett was a result of the system? What system? USC runs the closest thing to a pro-style offense in college football.
Hey, at least things turned out better for Jarrett than they did for Darius Walker.
DJ should of stayed for reasons Keyshawn said, to set records, maybe Heisman, NC title; what a package in next draft.
They just do not learn.
Still...all those receivers in front of him were ridiculous. DJ will surpass them eventually.
I agree 100%.
DJ should of stayed in school. That would of helped us alot this year and he could of matured as a player and had another year to work on his speed.
But since he decided to go, I have a real hard time believing there are 7 WR's better than him in this draft..Those teams who passed on him are stupid.
Like they say there's nothing worse than being the subjec of a rumor. Now that the NFL, so called "experts", ESPN sportscenter, and everyone else in the USA has decided that "Pete Carroll USC WR's do nothing in the NFL" is the latest catchphrase, all of our guys are going to have problems on future draft days.
Hopefully DJ and SS and some other Trojans like Dom Byrd can stop this crap.
I echo Greg B.
At least DJ didn't go out the way Darius Walker did. Damn.

So, is Jarrett going to be your next victim in your long-held obsession on former USC stars in the Pete Carroll era?
What did Jarrett do to earn your clever satire? Breathe?
In all fairness, DJ has always been a shy and uncomfortable person off the field. It's hard to tell if he's just sour grapes or if this is his daily persona.
Did anyone catch his interview with Keyshawn right after he was drafted? Not necessarily a man of many words. It was a little hard to watch, and I started to feel bad for Keyshawn since he kept trying to force the conversation.
keyshawn just got cut from the panthers
