Arkansas quarterback Mitch Mustain is scheduled to visit USC today and attend Saturday's scrimmage at the Coliseum. It will be a chance for Mustain to check out the offense (and specifically quarterback Mark Sanchez) before he make hid official decison.

Wonderful news! I will be proud to have Mustain as a Trojan. Great coup for the SC staff to land someone like him.

Fight on, Mitch!

marathon:
Change your name to hotlips, WHY?
So you can kiss-up to MM:
A whole lot, lucky FOR YOU lipsticks are cheap or shall we say it makes your kiss=kiss=
EASIER...

This is possibly the most drawn-out announcement in history. It makes OJ Mayo's 8 month announcement-in-waiting almost appear quick and easy. Whatever.

Mitch Mustain is the future of the Trojan football franchise and since his semester at Arkansas is almost over, then he can publicly announce without causing any further tension in the classroom and dorms among the Arkansas students.

In the midst of all this Mustain hysteria, we all seem to have forgotten about Corp. But this is college football and it's all about the battle of the fittest.

Hey, do you know what I really want to hear discussed on this forum? Who is a better quarterback, Sanchez or Mustain? It's never discussed on here at all. Please make sure to reference Mustain's record at Arkansas and Sanchez's legal problems. Feel free to cut and paste your prior arguments.

66-19, I'm not feelin the love from y'all. Hope to be seein ya tomorrow throwin rose petals at my feet durin the Trojan Walk. If not, I'm goin to Tulsa.

America's #1 QB of All-Time

For heaven's sake, Mustain clearly stated several months ago that his official announcement would be made by May, so he is simply keeping to his word.

The trolls out there: your routine is getting old.

Fight On!

As someone that has actually met Mark Sanchez and gotten to know his family, these comments are pretty disgusting. But then again, I'm sure you'd be happy to spout them off in front of him or his father, right?

Glad to see that being a racist as long as you're hiding behind cyberspace is acceptable still...was wondering what was going to happen to guys like you.

Trojanhoya:

Are you saying that if people question Sanchez's character to his face, he would physically attack them? Are you saying that if someone said something in front of him, they should expect to be physically intimidated by him? Would that not prove that he is a thug?

Well, here's my stance on this -- I can't care for the posts by El Capitan, 66-19, mitch_mustain or mark_sanchez. These posters add nothing to the blog other than disruptive nonsense.

There are ways you can get your point across without being an ass or promoting your own racial agenda (especially you, El Capitan). While I obviously believe that Sanchez has major character flaws and has displayed remarkably poor judgment since arriving at USC, my opposition to his place on the USC football team has nothing to do with his race. It has everything to do with his behavior and how it reflects on the university.

For those reasons, I favor Mustain coming to USC and support his becoming the starting quarterback in 2008. We simply do not need the negative publicity throughout the country that comes from someone like Sanchez starting for us. Fans from other schools will hold up signs and chant various negative slurs at Sanchez in the event that he starts for us. We don't need that. I have heard rumblings that the Stanford band has even come up with a preliminary half-time show in the hopes that Sanchez starts in the future. Heck, I've even heard of USC students saying that they will make signs stating "Mess with us and Sanchez will rape you!"

Just sick.

USC simply does not need this kind of negative publicity. So that is why I prefer Mustain over Sanchez.

Yeah, I don't know what's more irresponsible, the Sanchez-impersonator, or Scott Wolf and the Daily News for letting such racist crap float by. Scott, you can take the time to answer questions, which is a good thing, but you can't bother yourself to clean up this crap? Must be for the ratings. Despicable. Are you trying for your own “White-Nation” type controversy here? That’s must be why we keep getting spoon-feed the Mustain non-news every 3-4 days. I have no problem with Mustain coming to SC. But,… A.) he isn’t here yet...and…B.) he has to earn his playing time on the field just like everyone else.

Hey Scott,

Thanks for taking down the offending post. I retract my criticism of you. Sorry.

Hey ElCapitan:

I don't recall even one instance when either Carroll or Garrett kicked a player out of school. Not once. That why there are tensions between those two and Michael Jackson, the vice president for student affairs. Carroll and Garrett only care about winning, not about USC's reputation or academic standing.

Other players with negative reputations that Carroll and Garrett did nothing about:

Eric Wright
Rey Maualuga
Troy Van Blarcom
Clay Matthews
Hershel Dennis
Brian Cushing
Winston Justice
Frostee Rucker

None of them were ever reprimanded by either Carroll or Garrett; only student affairs dealt with some of them. Steve Sample's management style dictates that he allocates responsibility to a specific department head and he institutes the correct measures. In the case of the football team, it is Carroll and he has never reprimanded anyone, including the above.

The only time Garrett did something about a potential negative scenario was to refuse tickets to Reggie Bush to attend the Rose Bowl. He only did that after orders from the NCAA; otherwise he would not have done anything about that, either.

So don't make claims that Sanchez is not a negative factor at USC simply because Carroll and Garrett have done nothing about him. They didn't do anything about Eric Wright, either. Only after alumni complaints was his punishment increased and he was, subsequently, kicked out of school. Carroll did not kick him out of school; the vice president of student affairs stepped in and took control of the situation, only after his initial one semester suspension drew outrage from alumni. He was never even charged with rape, so don't assume that means innocence.

So why don't you ever defend any of the above players who have gotten into trouble? I know, it's because they're not Latino and you can only stand up and defend to the death your fellow Latinos.

You are too far gone. Thank goodness you are not a Trojan or else we would be running a darn state prison rather than a world class university.

FluorTower and USCinema - I couldn't agree with you more. It seems we can’t go a day without hearing some news about a USC connected person doing something illegal, immoral, unethical, or just plain stupid. And this isn't only from the athletics department. The list continues to grow - French Andersen (faculty member: molestation charge), Holly Ashcroft (student: baby murder charge), Reggie Bush (athlete: NCAA violation charge), Mark Sanchez (athlete: rape charge), Bruce Karatz (Alumnus: Stock Option probe), OJ Mayo (athlete prospect: bad behavior incidents), OJ Simpson (you know who and what), and now the financial aid probe. What’s next? USC’s reputation continues to take a large hit with these seemingly endless streams of bad press. Despite all the great gains in quality over the years, USC continues to encourage the negative perception that it is a place for the spoiled, corrupt, and morally inept. Sample needs to make sure every department (including student affairs) enforces the highest standards for excellence in every aspect of university life - not just on the playing field.

Hey florist tower:
Wrong again:
1. PC suspended OT Winston Justice a whole year because of the fake pistol waving incident.
2. Eric Wright was kicked out of the team by PC over the ectasy pills found in his room.
He transfered to Nevada. Had he stayed at USC he would have had a chance at being a first round draft choice instead he's looking at best a second round. Check the combines result and you will confirm my claim.
Last but NOT least you are neither PC NOR MG. IF the players you have just listed are so negative WHY is it almost impossible for the general public to get a ticket at the coliseum? Finally I forgot you are a bona fide usual suspect, consider the source.

As usual, The Captain is wrong. That's not a surprise considering that he has nothing to do with USC and is just a fool jumping on our bandwagon. But I thank you for kissing ass to my school. We appreciate that you grovel up to us even though you never went here and could never have been admitted to such a fine institution.

Winston Justice and Eric Wright were suspended and kicked out, respectively, by student affairs vice president Michael Jackson, not PC. PC was opposed to both punishments. End of discussion.

I'm going to love it when Mustain comes to USC and you have a nervous breakdown. Even the OC Register had a story yesterday about how Sanchez will most likely be the backup QB when Mustain makes his expected announcement and starts in 2008.

For that reason alone, I now really want Mustain to enroll at USC. Nothing against Sanchez, but I would love it when you start crying and claiming racism over Booty and, then, Mustain starting over Sanchez.

Too funny!

Floweridiot:

I admit I did not go to USC. I am man enough to say that. But my freedom of speech in America allows me to support USC and that is my right. You cannot take that right away from me. I can cheer for anyone I wish to in America.
When Booty won the starting position over Mark Sanchez, it was difficult but I took it with dignity and knew that politics was involved in the decision, not talent. Everyone knows that Mark Sanchez is far better than Booty, but politics of a white quarterback forced PC to choose Booty over Mark Sanchez. That is a fact. If Mark Sanchez' name was Mark Smith, he would have started over Booty.
The only reason that players like Mustain and Corp are brought into USC are because they are white and to please people like you. They do not have the talent to compete against Mark Sanchez and all you people can do is attack Mark Sanchez with allegations of rape to find favor in the court of public opinion.
I ask you is that the American way of fairness and justice? Why would people support Booty, Mustain and Corp only because their last names are not Sanchez, Lopez or Ramirez?
That IS racism. If Mark Sanchez does not start this year over Booty, it can only be because of unfair racial preferences and not because of what each player is capable of on the field.
To those of you who disagree, you are just part of the usual suspects and your opinions do not mean anything other than the racist garbage you throw out to hold on to the white power structure and prevent a Latino quarterback from rightfully starting for USC.

El Capitan - You have every right to cheer on USC regardless if you went there or not. You also have the right to your OPINION. But you are making statements as if they are indeed measurbale facts (eg: ..."Everyone knows that Mark Sanchez is far better than Booty, but politics of a white quarterback forced PC to choose Booty over Mark Sanchez. That is a fact..."). This is not a fact, only your opinion. Personally I would like to see Sanchez get a shot at a start only since he displayed passion and enthusiasm the few times he was in, but I don't believe there is a racist conspiracy to keep him out

Larrymoron:

Dont tell me what I can or cant say. By protecting Booty who is an inferior quarterback to Mark Sanchez you show your true stripes as one of the usual suspects. Typical racist crap that exists in America and rears its head on this board each time Mark Sanchez' name is bought up.
All of you who bring up allegations of rape against Mark Sanchez do so in a thinly veiled sign of racism. Right...you are all so perfect and clean. How many of you can say you have never been arrested? How many of you can say you never made any mistakes? I doubt there is even one of you who has never been arrested and been in jail. You are all such angels right?
So to keep bringing up Mark Sanchez' arrest on allegations of rape as a way to find support in the court of public opinion for Mustain is not only racist but also lacking the dignity that the American way of justice should show Mark Sanchez.
You are not angels and you are not clean. How many of you can say you have never been arrested? You only bring it up with Mark Sanchez because he is Latino and Mustain is white.
Thinly veiled racism is all you usual suspects have going for you and your such clean lives with no arrests right?

El Capitan

First off, I stated a true fact (Sanchez was charged), not a very angry, opinionated commentary like you.

Second,I never said you could or could not do anything, In fact (another true fact), I agreed with your point that you have your rights like anyone else.

Third, I indicated I would like to see Sanchez start (although based on the scrimmage blog, he is not doing so well). Not sure how this makes me a racist like everyone else.

Your sophomoric name calling is only making you look like the moron, not to mention an angry racist yourself

BTW - I'm done with you, clearly you have a chip on your shoulder and only want to spew your anger and hate and anyone and everyone.

Convict/Larryidiot:

You show your true colors by posting under different names. Just more of the same from the usual suspects.
So you cant stand the heat? Now you get out of the kitchen. Good riddance I say.
If Mark Sanchez was charged as you claim why did nothing happen to him? Why did PC not suspend him or punish him in any way? He was not charged but racists like you keep saying he was to gain favor in the court of public opinion for white players like Mustain. That is not the spirit of sportsmanship that allows the starting quarterback to be chosen on talent showed on the field. That is racism against a Latino player and always bringing up unfounded allegations of rape against Mark Sanchez show you have a chip on YOUR shoulder against the thought of a Latino taking a place from a white player.
So goodbye to you a member of the usual suspects. You cant hide the truth so you just run away.

1) Not sure why the negativity. I was not saying in my earlier post that I supported Sanchez or Mustain. IF MM comes, he and MS will compete for the starting job. I was being sarcastic. It's insane that this board explodes every time MM is mentioned. None of you know enough to know who will win the spot in '08.

2) Are some of you know saying MS is way better than Booty, but didn't start for race reasons? I like MS, but this is stupid. Is that a serious allegation? You think PC would sit a better quarterback based on his race? Give me break, guy.

I meant "Are some of you NOW saying..." and "Give me A break." Preemptive correction.

Im with Pete Carroll.Start the white guy.....El Capitan, this is not the USC soccer board, you and sanchez are confused. In America football is not that girly sport where you kick around a pelota. If your not careful the white nation will burn a taco in your front yard.

You don't win national championships and have such an unprecedented winning streak as Pete Carroll if you subscribe to backwards thinking proposed by El Capitan. You play the best based on how they compete in practice. Plain and simple.

With Booty missing last spring’s practice, I thought Sanchez was definitely going to overtake him in the fall for the starting job. Was actually surprised it didn't happen. Then I began rationalizing it from the perspective that Booty paid his dues for three years learning the system and would probably bolt if not named starter. And PC wouldn't have a quality back-up. That's no way to begin a season with hopes of contending for a national championship. So, if their practice performances were close to being even, I thought the nod had to be given to Booty. Not based on race, just practicality. Unfortunately for Sanchez next year, it looks like there will be quality back-up's, so he may not get the same dispensation. But 66-19's right. What the hell do I know about the inner workings of the football team? Just enough to concoct a crazy speculation theory.

I am the real:
El Capitan. I did NOT post the 7 Apr 07-0313, 0200 PM posts. I agree with most of what was said though. I never said Booty was favored over Sanchez because of skin color. I also said the same thing about MM. Look back at my old posts and you will see the inconsistencies. Do yourself a favor and find the impostor. The impostor is a clown knowing that you will come back they way you have playing into his hand.
By the same token you keep playing the same old song about Sanchez. You know Sanchez is a big(6'4", 210) very athletic guy. How many of you with your usual suspects big mouths would say the garbage you've been throwing around to his face? You would NOT last five seconds before you are on the way to a hospital or looking for a bag of ice PDQ. With Rey you would last two seconds. Big mouths hiding behind a keyboard talking way out loud and no action. Enough is enough idiots.

There goes El Capitan making more threats once again. So yet again you claim that Sanchez will resort to physical violence against anyone who says anything negative about him? So you're just proving everyone's point that Sanchez is a violent thug who has to resort to breaking the law if he can't get his way or hears something he doesn't like.

I doubt there's an impostor out there pretending to be you. Even when you say there's some impostor, it's written in the exact same style as the post you claim is fake and you agree with the alleged fake post.

I think you are the usual suspect with the big mouth, always making threats against others and saying that Sanchez will physically attack any of his critics with violence.

Just give it up, your routine has become old and tired. You have become a joke and nothing more than a source of laughter to the readers of this blog. I think Scott just posts about Mustain at this point to see you make a fool of yourself for all his readers to get a laugh out of.

PatrickMSN:
Loud mouth idiot-IT. Read you loud mouth moron:
I did NOT say Sanchez "will resort to violence to anyone who says anything negative about him". Being called rapist like you and a few other usual suspects have is enough to flair anybody's temper. There's a difference between being called rapist when Sanchez is NOT and booed for throwing an interception. You and the usual suspects can't differentiate that: IDIOT. I have Spanish and Italian blood=very short fuse... Because he's a college athlete he won't charge unless you push your luck to the limit. Needless to mention they have been advised of idiots like you loud mouth Pat.
While back I remember watching a Mets game. I say NY fans are NY fans-end of the story. The story is about former Puertorican baseball player Bobby Bonilla-a big fellow(6'3"-235). Some NY fans were talking trash to him and I remember him telling them come on jump into the field and you'll find out. Nobody jumped and I'm pretty sure a lot like you were in that crowd.

Fluor Tower:
You better respond yes you better respond to the narrow minded ignorant arrogant comments you made on 7 Apr 07 1253 PM post:
1. I do NOT kiss-up to anybody. I reserve that honor to a few females.
2. I root loyally for USC and that is my right.
3. This is the one that lights -up my short fuse:
Your Hitler oriented arrogance.:
a) For starters you don't know my IQ, my major or minor in college(NOT USC) NOR my SAT scores. What were yours?
b) You don't control who gets admitted to USC or NOT. BTW including a few athletes from my home state(I use this term to simplify things) attend or have attended your USC. What the hell do you have to say about that you stupid moronic superior rectum hole?
4. I am NOT NOR will beg for a damn apology from a moronic idiot like you for your silly arrogant comments.
5. Get your big fat hoof of your damn mouth Mister.
6. It is obvious that you are a young punk that assumes that I am this or that. Grow-up...

El Capitan: you truly have mastered incoherent drivel. Try as I might, I can't get through your poor grasp of the English language without shaking my head. Your grammar is atrocious. Your spelling is a joke. You are constantly proven wrong, then you make threats against everyone.

Honestly, for your sake, stop making a joke of yourself. You threaten everyone in sight, then make completely unrelated analogies. Everything you have said about USC (from who makes disciplinary decisions to internal administration workings) has been wrong.

Even when you try to show support for a Latino player on the football team, you end up portraying him as a violent street criminal who will attack anyone who says anything negative about him. If you are his supporter, I would hate to think what his critics have to say about him.

Now take a deep breath and calm down. Have a nap, drink some warm milk and eat some toast. It will calm you down and you won't feel the need to embarrass yourself on a public website for the world to see.

I'm saying this for your own benefit, little buddy. I'm just looking out for you, so you won't be such a source of ridicule anymore for everyone who reads this site.

You know it makes sense.

El Capitan and Imposter El Capitan:

Thanks for the shout out, but could you elaborate on my “vulgar post” that you are referring to? I was unaware that I made one. Oh well.

I thought we already covered this before your long hiatus (weren’t those the days), but let me try to dumb it down a little for you...

1. Sanchez is a good kid...not a street thug like some of these morons paint him out to be...he was just a dumb college kid that got himself into a bad situation.

2. Sanchez looked like crap on Saturday...which has nothing to do with his ethnic background...it just simply has to do with the fact that he looked like crap (which you would have seen if you actually went to USC’s scrimmage on Saturday...and weren’t on the internet).

3. Sanchez is a physically gifted athlete that throws a nice the deep ball, but can’t seem to throw a simple 5 to 10 yard pass...and he blew a huge opportunity to shine on Saturday.

4. I actually went to USC...have season tickets to USC Football...and have a real interest in seeing the Football team win. Therefore, I, like any true USC fan, want the best players starting at each position...period.

5. If Mustain comes to USC (which he will), and beats out Sanchez ...that is fantastic (and from what I’ve seen and heard, will likely happen). If Sanchez steps up to the challenge and beats out Mustain...that would also be fantastic. The better player should earn the starting job, and having 2 great QB’s competing for that job will only bring out the best in the other.

6. I am 1/4 Hispanic, so please stop with the “if you like Mustain you are a racist” crap. Some people on here are idiots, some people on here just bait you b/c you are a hot head, but for you to continuously come on here and argue with people because they are open minded about USC’s next superstar QB makes you look more and more like the pallaso you are.

PS - I hope Mustain actually transfers and beats out Sanchez because then (hopefully) you will go jump on another college’s (that you also did not attend) bandwagon, and leave us alone.

...lo siento...payaso.

"We simply do not need the negative publicity throughout the country that comes from someone like Sanchez starting for us. Fans from other schools will hold up signs and chant various negative slurs at Sanchez in the event that he starts for us. We don't need that. I have heard rumblings that the Stanford band has even come up with a preliminary half-time show in the hopes that Sanchez starts in the future."

Drama-mongers will find some controversy no matter who takes the field. Maybe the Stanford band should play. They'd be better than the football team.

"Heck, I've even heard of USC students saying that they will make signs stating "Mess with us and Sanchez will rape you!""

Ever hear of sarcasm?

"Winston Justice and Eric Wright were suspended and kicked out, respectively, by student affairs vice president Michael Jackson, not PC. PC was opposed to both punishments. End of discussion."

Carroll was not opposed to their punishments. Look back at newspaper archives. And both were referred to Student Affairs as per USC policy. The Athletic Dept. is not the school's judicial/disciplinary body.

The "usual suspects" comments are very offensive, Captain Oblivious. Sanchez isn't better than Booty. He has shown flashes of brilliance, but his strides aren't consistent. As for "Big mouths hiding behind a keyboard talking way out loud and no action. Enough is enough idiots." Well, aren't you one to talk?

"Your Hitler oriented arrogance.:" As a Jew, I say this is a horrendous offense, likening posters here to one of the vilest historical figures of all time.

"a) For starters you don't know my IQ, my major or minor in college(NOT USC) NOR my SAT scores. What were yours?" I'll offer mine. My IQ was 164 as of my senior year of high school; I'm now a senior at USC. I am a print journalism major, IR minor. I had a 1470 SAT (on the old 1600 scale), with 780 SAT II writing, 750 SAT II Spanish, and 600 SAT II math scores. Also, I'll throw in my 5 in AP English Language and Spanish Language, 4 in AP English Literature, and 3 in AP Biology and AP Statistics. Even with all my obvious book smarts, that doesn't make me socially smart. What that entails is common sense. Common sense is what you lack.

"b) You don't control who gets admitted to USC or NOT. BTW including a few athletes from my home state(I use this term to simplify things) attend or have attended your USC. What the hell do you have to say about that you stupid moronic superior rectum hole?" I say, "So what?" Did you snag your insults from "Borat"?

"4. I am NOT NOR will beg for a damn apology from a moronic idiot like you for your silly arrogant comments." Say what? The arrogance is all yours.

"5. Get your big fat hoof of your damn mouth Mister.
6. It is obvious that you are a young punk that assumes that I am this or that. Grow-up..." You have a big mouth yourself, assuming so much about the rest of us. You want to stand up for Sanchez, but do more to detract from him than anything else. It's sad. I'm a Sanchez fan, and want to see him do well, but last Saturday, he was lackluster. Deal with it. Everyone's liable to have an off day.

And before you accuse me of being racist, I'm a Jewish female whose family lineage traces back to Toledo, Spain in the 1400s before the Inquisition, and whose best friend (and ex-boyfriend of two years) is Mexican and Cuban.
