Scrimmage Blogging
Here's the scrimmage in real time:
We're only an hour late and walk-on Omari Crittenden fumbles the kickoff twice.
Chauncey Washington gained 9 yards but John David Booty's poor pass is intercepted by Keith Rivers.
Hershel Dennis rips off a 22-yard run for the second team and scores on a 2-yard run.
Dennis comes back and catches a 43-yard TD pass where he does most of the work. Mark Sanchez and Co. lead the first team, 14-0.
Taylor Mays nails Stanley Havili for a 3 yard loss as the 1's go against each other too.
Injury Alert!! Matt Spanos is helped off the field with an unknown injury.
The first team defense is not living up to the hype. Booty throws an off balance 22-yd pass to Havili that leads to a 3-yd TD pass to Patrick Turner.
Sanchez is intercepted by walk on Matthew Jordan and then Desmond Reed fumbles a carry out of bounds. A short pass to Vidal Hazelton and a missed tackle by Taylor Mays leads to a 34-yd TD.
Booty throws 14 straight completions then gets a screen pass tipped by Sedrick Ellis and intercepted by Alex Parsons.
It's halftime!
Kaluka Maiava intercepts a Garrett Green pass. Kyle Moore intercepts Mark Sanchez.
David Ausberry makes a nice catch from a Green pass.
Sanchez fumbles 2 snaps and might set a spring record with 4 turnovers.
Desmond Reed and Travon Patterson scored TDs on punt returns against shoddy coverage.
We're guessing about 9 turnovers today. Sanchez moves team but fails to score on final drive.

OK sounds like we are doing pretty sweet...4 INT's, 2 fumbles, and our starting center now out...They keep this up and ole' Pete is going to have to explain why they lost to Idaho...

66 you are an idiot. Too bad we don't play a real game until 4 months. The stats don't mean anything in this game. USC is playing against itself. 5 stars vs. 5 stars.

Mark Sanchez, did I make you nervous? Now I have no choice but to transfer. See you in fall camp. The better man (me) will win in '08. And get that ailing back of yours checked. I don't want any excuses when I smoke you.

SW, we need an update on Spanos (give us info on his injury and not Reg's false denial in to Hef's house). And I'm with USC1966, Shut Up Giorgio. Stats are not as important as they will be during the real season, but right now, they give an indicator of where the "O" is at, or not at.

Someone please tell Taylor Mays to rap his arms when he tackles; he is going to cost his team a few scores during the upcoming year if he relies on just hitting ball carriers. Also, if Booty goes down, say good by to a national championship; this time it won't be Lane Kiffens fault....

I am with Giorgio:
WHY?
He's the only that said the sensible:
you use oil to loosen-up rusty bolts. Practices do the same thing. 66, mm,m and as always the usual suspects claim their pseudo football expertise knownas BS.
