Second Thoughts?

| | Comments (16) |

USC wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett informed the media (through his agent) that he would not speak tonight about his draft selection because he wanted to spend time with his family. Those 10 minutes answering questions can really disrupt one's schedule after all.
Jarrett also announced he might speak to the media Tuesday or Wednesday. Well guess what, the Carolina Panthers will have him talking to their media tomorrow. That's how it works.

He needs to stop being a baby. I'm not surprised after last years draft.
Good for Steve Smith getting picked up soon after DJ.

He talked to ESPN right after getting drafted.

Keyshawn conducted an awkward interview with Dwayne on ESPN right after he was drafted. Despite Keyshawn's peculiar questions, Dwayne remained composed and his answers were clearly mindful that the two are now teammates. He was also obviously relieved to have heard his name called. Shortly afterwards, Kalil joined the Panthers. Yesterday must have been a great day for Dwayne. My only concern out of the interview was that Keyshawn said Dwayne would clearly take over the third position at wide receiver. What about Keary Colbert?

Watch them cut Keshawn.

That was an awkward interview, after saying asking if he was happy to get drafted, they both sort of just sat there for about 30 seconds. Very odd indeed.

There we go, folks! With the 160th pick, a UCLA player is finally drafted! The kicker.

Character issues with this kicker too.

Again, character is SUCH a glass house for you guys. Shall we discuss the 10 minutes ESPN spent on EWright? Really guys, think before you type. I think we all know that this is an argument you guys can't win.

USC clearly had more NFL draft caliber players this year, but UCLA only had a handful of seniors/guys even leave. Let's see how UCLA does next year with 20+ seniors.

Think before you type. USC lost just as few players to graduation and the draft as ucla. USC player get drafted becuase USC puts more talent on the field.

Why do we care about what UCLA thinks? They were an opportunistic team that kicked SC when they were down and won - good for them. Last season was a rebuilding year and SC had just come off of 3 consecutive victories over ranked teams. They were tired and, yes looking ahead to another national championship game. In this case past history does not dictate future prospects. So can we just please move on. Let UCLA have its victory and stop thinking it was anything more than beating a young team that was just to worn down from playing the toughest schedule in the NCAA. Just focus on SC and let our guests worry about if they will beat us or not.

haha! Nice post matthew....I thought University of Crap was going to be an ofer this draft...but that's about expected they don't have much talent there.

That's a team that's been living off it's basketball team and past for far too long.

I think the bottom line is that DJ should of stayed in school. I am sure PC told him that, Keyshawn told him that, too. And now he realizes it was a mistake but there is nothing he can do.

Don't forget he will be facing off vs. another good USC WR, Keary Colbert.

He has alot to assimilate..didn't get drafted where he wanted, has to compete vs. Steve Smith and Keyshawn...he'll get his act together soon.

Again, let's look at how USC has done - as I see it, USC keeps slipping its players to below the 1st round. Why? Character. Look at Lendale last year. Character is a black eye almost across the board. You guys are an NFL program in college with NFL players with NFL attitude, morals and intelligence. It brings victories and glory but it also is dirty and disturbing.

I never disputed USC had better NFL talent this year. Who would?

And you know what, I don't care. Why? Cuz we beat you, that's why.

You do care. That is why you are on OUR site.

Give a monkey a typewriter, sooner or later they will spell a word.

Next year the domination will continue.

I don't buy the whole SC is a NFL program with NFL players angle. What does that mean? It sounds like we recruit directly from the NFL to play college ball. Give us a break. I agree that a SMALL minority of players have some attitude issues, but what NCAA DIV 1 schools don't have at least one or two? We just hear about it more from SC because they are under the microscope.

It is so typical to try discount a program with the unprecedented successes that USC has. Top recruits want to play at USC, which leads to higher percentages of players going to the NFL: excellence breads excellence. The media and opponents will always find ways to dig up something to try and level the playing field a bit. However, these issues are nothing new and exists in some form or another anywhere you go. SC is not an NFL program plagued by character issues any more than UCLA is a national championship caliber team.
