Slip Sliding Away

An NFL source reiterated Dwayne Jarrett's work ethic was questioned because he did not seem to work out heavily in the offseason. Of course Ryan Kalil and Steve Smith did work out hard and are still waiting.

DJ gets drafted! Good for the kid! Talked to ESPN, too. I wish he went higher, but I'm happy for him....

So he leaves early to be that covetted 45th overall draft pick? Watch him hold-out for more money. That would be classic.

You can't discount the rigors of classes over at FigTech as a reason to leave. I mean that Spanish teacher did say she only gives you a B if you don't show up.

I remember BMW once saying on TV how stressed out he was by a geography final and how bad he felt for "regular students" or something along those lines.

Anyway, really, I think many of us (me included) didn't predict him to go 45th overall (higher expected).

Wow. Anybody who saw the Meshawn-DJ interview can't be very proud of the USC English department right now, or perhaps simply "education" of your athletes. Boy was that embrassing.

And PS Meshawn - 1st round bust = BMW.

Agreed. DJ should have been a Speech Com major.

Most athletes aren't exactly the most eloquent speakers in the world, but DJ can count out broadcasting as a future career...

ReelBoring, your banter is getting old. Go visit your own sight. Read all the comments about the Bruins who are being drafted in the first 2 rounds (in the arena league). Oh, and have fun watching our 5-6 first rounders in next year's draft squash your little maggot quarterback's head into the turf this December at the Coliseum.

Tirebiter - career? or statement on your mental capacity?

Anyway, it appears that 5-6 first rounders is a bit of a bold prediction based on the last 2 drafts.

I will have fun at the Mausoleum, watching two great Ds pound it out. And if USC is not banned from post-season play, it'll be even more meaninguful.

One really great D will shut your very poor offense out. One excellent offense will score three to four times against your very good defense. So have fun at your mausoleum as last rites will be read over the carcass of Joe Bruin. Hope you enjoy the show.

BTW. We are still waiting to hear about the first Bruin draft pick of 2007.

Hopefully this will motivate DJ to work harder and show them what he can do. I am not that sad he left, we have enough depth at WR. I do feel bad he wasn't taken till the middle of the second round. Maybe this will turn out for the best. It will be good that he will be with some former trojan receivers too.

As for the interview, ya I had to cover my ears, it was bad.

I'll give DJ a pass in that interview. He probably should have kept to the original "not talking to the media" stance as he was noticeably disappointed and had nothing to say.

Okay, even under the circumstances, he was a bit Taj Gibsonesque.

Was it just me or did anyone else enjoy seeing Brady Q wait all those hours before being chosen by the Cleveland Clowns err Browns. Having said that, I have to admit Brady is much prettier than his girlfriend.

Yeah, it was nice seeing the anxiety, frustration and disappointment wearing down "the most prepared player" in this year's draft. Now that the shine's off the Fat-man's apple, maybe Crist will reconsider his verbal.

The Trojans will have 5-6 first rounders next year, in the California Penal League!!

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
