The Rivalry Continues
Every day seems to bring another crosstown recruiting story. Yesterday, we hear UCLA brought its recently committed players to campus for the day. Nothing terribly unusual, except the timing was odd, since the group met three weeks ago.
Until you consider yesterday was Junior Day at USC, which meant players like Compton's Datone Jones did not attend.

13-9
Check out the brain on K.Dorrrell!
Scott you must be having an affair with this Datone Jones kid. How is the Down Low life treating you Gargamel? This fat black kid from Compton gets more play on this blog than actual memebers of the USC team. Go figure... A Gargamel looking creature with male pattern baldness writing about a fat black kid from Compton. God Bless America!!
Giorgio, what about your love affair with Will Hill? Where is his commitment? Did he enjoy Jr. Day?
Dwason's Creek I see you have come out of your hole. Your nothing but a Bruin Blowhard in drag. Actually Deion Walker is my guy. Go back to worshiping Rick Kimbrel and his lies and giving brain to Brian Dohn.
Rivalry? What rivalry? There's no way you can put the two schools on the same level.
USC has done more in the past five seasons than UCLA has accomplished in the entire history of its football program.
USC has dominated the bruins both in the past and currently.
I know most UCLA people aren't bright, but one lucky victory does not make up for a century of inepititude at the hands of your crosstown neighbor.
Even a blind chicken gets a kernal of corn every once in a while
Way to go, patty o!! Finally a voice of reason!!
Scott, hopefully you read some of the responses to your "posts", instead of just counting the hits.
Please stop obsessing over every Dorsey/Compton junior who has committed to the bRuins.
I have never heard anything positive from you on the superlative classes that SC does keep landing every year. Its a given that USC can't land everyone in their backyard. They have consistenly, however, signed the most athletic and competitive players since Carroll arrived.
Cindy and Patty:
Do you have anything against Mark Sanchez? Assuming you are females and NOT fake bloggers.
Thnx
Oh Patty. Were you in a coma during the 90's? A century of ineptitude? Please. UCLA wasn't even formed as a University until almost 40 years after Southern Cal. That's a bit of a head start wouldn't you say? But if those "rugby" wins from the 40's and 50's warm your cold Trojan heart, then so be it.
Did you know that since the formation of the PAC-10 in 1978, that SC is 14-14-1 against the Bruins? Talk about not knowing your past. It's OK. I'm sure you "discovered" you were an SC fan in 2003; how convenient.
USC has done more in the past 5 years than UCLA has done in the entirety of its football program. And since CalPolyBruinFan was so kind to point out the Bruins dominance in the 90s...kind of makes the "you had a 40 year head start" a lame argument. Thanks for the laughs Bruins...I can't wait until December.
Quick question...has UCLA ever landed a 5 star recruit...much less 7 in the same class? or won a Heisman? or a national championship? or a BCS game? or, heck, won the Emerald Nuts Bowl?
Tim,
Since you seem to know nothing about Bruin football, let me enlighten you. UCLA has landed a 5-star recruit, Ben Olson. Gary Beban won the Heisman as a Bruin. UCLA did win a national championship in football. We have never won a BCS game, but did play in the one of the first BCS games (the Rose Bowl) in 1998.
Now, I will be the first to admit that many of these things happened years ago. I'll also be the first to admit that UCLA doesn't have near the football tradition of the Trojans. That being said, UCLA was a very good football program through the 80's and most of the 90's. We've had a down turn since '98, but hopefully we'll return to the upper echelon of college football soon. The recent recruiting gains are a good step in the right direction.
Hey CalPoly you need to be trying to predict the Next Big EarthQuake and leave the football talk to the real teams. 65 Year Old Ben Olson is a bust. Does his old azz collect Social Security yet? Pinto Head Karlos Dorrell is leading Westwood Tech into the ground. No Matter what lies Fat Whale Joe McDonnell, Gender Bender Traci Pierson, Fat Slob Brian Dohn, or Rick Kimbrel say.
El Capitan-
Last time I checked, Sanchez was exonerated due to lack of evidence. If convicted of the crime he was originally accused of, he should have been sentenced to the full exent of the law. Period.
Do you have anything against Justin Medlock, Ricky Manning Jr., etc... blah, blah, blah...
Oh, and by the way, I am a female, and not a "fake" blogger, whatever that means.
CalPolyBruinFan,
I do know my history very well. In its football history, UCLA has won one AP National Title and has one Heisman Winner.
In the past five seasons, USC has had 2 national titles (one AP, One BCS) and three heisman winners.
So like I said, USC has done more in the past five seasons than UCLA has in its entire history.
Go back and read the Bruin record books (it'll be a quick read, don't worry) before you give me a history lecture.
And for the record, I actually root for UCLA to win every game outside of SC, but it is hard to root for the Bruins when their fans act like they do on this board, harping about a lucky win and one 5 star recruit (SC has what, 30?)
Patty,
Nobody is denying that SC has a great and storied football history. You guys have been on a historic run the last few years, kudos. But when you make statements like:
"USC has dominated the bruins both in the past and currently."
Well, you're just speaking out your pie hole. It wasn't that long ago that the Trojans were getting dominated by the Bruins for the better part of two decades. So saying things like "one lucky win" just doesn't jive with history.
p.s. Nobody was "harping" on one 5 star recruit. One of your fellow Troilets asked if we ever had one. I just pointed out that we did.
p.p.s Don't let idiots like me get you down on the Bruins. Half of what I post is just to get a reaction from the Trojan internet geeks. I don't have any hard feelings toward Trojan fans in general. Well, at least the ones that were around before the Carroll era.
I would like to add the smack down on CalPolyBruinFan, but everyone else has "racked it". Words to remember "BruinLosers", Scoreboard baby! Don't try to compare Football 101 History. You don't have the professors to teach it, and if you did, nothing compares to the Trojan Hardware. One Beban Heisman (which everyone knows should have gone to the future knife spokesman, O.J.) just doesn't add up against the Trojan Wars! By the way, stick that 13-9 up your ***, because it doesn't match up. Oh by the way, last count (7) Heisman's in Heritage Hall, including (3) in this decade. Fight On!
Pomona getting smacked around by Patty and El Capitan being straightened out by Cindy...what a great thread! Nice job ladies!
EC are you really back? Personally, I think the “El Capitan” post has to be an imposter because why would the real EC come back from his long hiatus to start up another Sanchez discussion on a thread about the USC/UCLA rivalry?...at least wait until Scott’s next thread telling us all about how Mustain has still not decided whether or not he is coming to USC!
And Pomona, If you take the last 5 years out of the equation, UCLA has still won just 1 AP National Title and has only 1 Heisman Winner. Pre-Carroll, USC has won 9 National Titles and has had 4 Heisman winners. So correct me if I am wrong, but in the hardware department "USC has dominated the bruins both in the past and currently."
PS - 13-9, 76-66. Congratulations on the Bruins falling short of another Basketball National Championship...to the Gators...again! The dry spell continues.
LMGDAO
All the Trojans ever talk about is "5 years". Why?
Oh that's right. 5 years ago was when everybody jumped aboard the bandwagon.
Anyways, you should all go back to google now and start researching Trojan history. Don't want to make it seem TOO abvious that you guys all jumped aboard the wagon.
Losair3_21 -
Got to love bRuin giving USC fans heat for enjoying a great run over the past 5 years - a run which is still going I might add.
This from a school living off the glorius Gilbert era of the 70's - a run which no one not drinking the powder blue koolaid even remembers.
You clowns like to talk about the 80's and 90's so much - why do't you tell us how many football championships Westwood High won? What? Zero?
Now why don't you tell us how many Rose Bowls & Pac 10 Championships you won during that time span? What? You had a mixed bag along with the rest of the Pac 10! Amazing.
Let's look at the records and accomplishments gentleman.
76-66
For the record, everyone, UCLA's national title was awarded by UPI (now defunct) not the Associated Press. At any rate, UPI was just one of several agencies awarding mythical national titles at the time. Ohio State won the AP national title that year.
It's about as legitimate as USC's 2003 AP National Title, which many Bruin fans claim doesn't count because it wasn't the BCS title. We could always concede 2003 if they're willing to give up 1954.
I love you guys on this blog. The laughs just keep coming. JJ and Irish, you didn't just post the score from our game against Florida did you? That's just sad boys. The Trojans couldn't get it done on the field or the hard court so you have to resort to bragging about victories by other teams? Too rich.
But hey, don’t let me interrupt your high-5 session. Smacked me down? Huh? What did I post that wasn’t true? I never said that UCLA compares to USC in terms of national championships or Heisman trophies. Just like I would never dare compare your basketball history of 0 national championships and 2 final four appearances to UCLA’s 11 championships and 17 appearances.
No, what I was responding to was this silly idea you guys keep floating around that the Trojans have dominated UCLA forever on the field and that our last victory was a fluke. Nothing could be further from the truth. In the last 3 decades your Troilets haven’t even won a majority of the head-to-head battles. How is that domination?
Feel free to respond with more straw-man arguments, however. I appreciate the laughs.
CPBF no need to use logic. They don't understand what it is.
"Oh yeah, well we won the NC. And we're doing really good the last 5 years, durrr."
Nice to see the bandwagoners out in full force.
CalPolyBruinFan, your right about the closeness in parts of 80’s and 90's. However, over-all (which is what most Bruin fans are tying compete with), there is no comparison. It has been a very dominating performance by the men of Troy throughout the history. Yes, the Bruins took a step forward in the 80/90's, but in the here and now, who is the most dominate... That would be the PC and his boys. My only question for you, ReelBruin and 13-9 is “what are you doing hanging out in Trojan land”. And whoever this goomba is (uzair3_21), you’re barking up the wrong tree. I've been a Trojan backer since '66. Sorry, I'm not from San Diego, the home of the original and permanent bandwagoners. Careful about trying to smack down on the Trojan Blog Nation. You don’t know who is “who”, and a lot of these people may not “bandwagoners”.
41-28-7
...and 13-4-4 against Pomona.
JJH4USC you are confusing Cal Poly Pomona for Pomona College. But I like where you're going with this, the world could use a little more Pomona College bashing.

Cindy:
Medlock and Manning actions speak for themselves. I was searching for an objective female opinion regarding Sanchez, thank you.
JJ:
Whenever I become crippled and I need your input or assistance I will ask for it, thank you. Cindy answered a simple question in a very ladylike manner. You and the rest of the usual suspects check this blog on:
http://www.sportingnews.com/blog/3peatTrojans
3peatTrojans is a true decent Trojan fan which is lot more than I can say about you and the usual suspects.
Thank you

And you're a Bruin Internet geek. Pot, meet Kettle and Stove.
"Medlock and Manning actions speak for themselves. I was searching for an objective female opinion regarding Sanchez, thank you."
I'll answer about the Sanchez situation, too. Girl sees Mark. Girl wants Mark. Girl gets Mark. Girl feels guilty in the morning. Girl calls mom to cry. Girl's mom tells her to accuse him of sexual assault. Girl is conveniently reminded she said, "oh yeah, baby," not "no!" Girl admits it was consensual. Girl drops charges.
