Transfer News
Kicker Brad Smith from Davidson College is transferring to USC. Smith made 11 of 12 field goals last season and was named to a Mid-Major All-American. He will be immediately eligible under NCAA rules that allow players to transfer without sitting out if they are obtaining a graduate degree.

Where is USC planning to get scholarships for all these additional players?
My understanding was that USC is already at the 85 scholie limit.
Where is PC planning to get scholies for Mustain, Cogdon, Brad Smith and the other kicker I've read about lately. Is he really hoping that 4-5 players don't qualify/transfer?

Do the kickers transferring in need scholarships?

who said he is getting a scholarship? He very well may be, but I haven't seen anything to confirm if he is getting a scholarship one way or another.

Is this the same as the basketball rule (i.e. the "Kruger" rule), or is it something different? I was under the impression the NCAA did away with the rule in basketball.

I think PC is going about this in an excellent fashion. Bring in a large group and let them fight it out. Figure it out the rest when the smoke clears. We have to have a back up plan if Buehler duffs it.

Just a clarification: Brad is eligible because he was not recruited to Davidson and did not receive any type of financial aid (see NCAA bylaw 14.5.5.2.10.1).
In 2006, Brad led all of college football in field goal percentage until November 4th. He finished 2nd in FG% in all of I-AA.

Most of the players are "walking on" because they already have agents, courtesy of Pete Carroll!!
Those that don't have agents should be on the LA Trade Tech football team!

Plus, there will be a loss of 10-20 scholarships once the NCAA and the Pac-10 finish up the Reggie Bush and other violations!! The Compliance Department has a lot of job security thanks to Cheatin' Pete!!
