Award Winner
Former USC fullback Jody Adewale is a 2007 winner of the Wilma Rudolph Student Athlete Achievement Award, which honors athletes who overcome personal, academic, and/or emotional odds to achieve academic success.
Now if Adewale can overcome the constant queries from the coaching staff to play next season (after they told him in December they didn't want him back), he might have time to accept the award.

That's just pure lack of class on your part Scott. It's pretty embarrasing, but you're not above that.
Give it a rest, Gargamel. Why don't you focus your crack reporting on the question of whether Mustain is coming to USC or not, and when he's going to announce it.

Good for Adewale, the guy deserves such an award! It's too bad that Carroll and Co. said no back in December, but oh well, that's just the way the cookie crumbles. Carroll will just have to move on and not beat a dead horse by constantly offering him a return.

Do the USC coaches know that this kid is Jody Adewale and NOT Sam Cunningham? If the season is banking on the play of someone named "Jody", well Garrett should just fire Carroll now.

I am sure the coaching staff would like him to come back as an insurance policy in case Havili is injured, and Jordan Campbell, or Allen Bradford don't work out at the postion. He (Adewale) has been around the program for years, and could greatly help the young players, but even he acknowledged that he wouldn't get a lot of playing time at USC. He seems ready to move on the the next phase of his life.
Let's applaud the young man for earning his education, and continuing it at the graduate level, while being a constant source of support and pride for his family. He deserves every award that comes his way.
Scott, leave it alone.
For much better reporting on Adewale's situation, again I ask you to reference Plaschke's December 2006 article in the Times.

Too many of you are looking for anything to bash Scott as it is faashionable and you don' understand he enjoys it.
Also you do not understand a journalist use of humor. No problem what he wrote. PC said get lost, he is doing fine, and now they area desperate to get him back. The situation is humorous. Especially if you question taking a senior walk on scholi away after he has worked his butt off for several years.

Morontz:
Good humor requires good timing. Wolfie may have had it the first time, and maybe even the second time, but it gets tedious and a bit personal when he makes his 10th comment about the same situation.
This subject has been covered ad nauseum. That's what's annoying.

Jody deserves the award. He's a blue collar kid that grew up in a tough area near USC. He fullfilled his dream to one day play for USC. He was a very good high school ball player however not of the 5 star caliber of most on this team. However he toiled in practice everyday and performed like a true Trojan the few times his number was called.
I sure hope Jody can find time in his schedule to rejoined the team in Sept. Im sure he will be an inspiration to the whole USC program.
