Um... CJ's a solid player, but no way he's winning a Heisman. Part of the reason that CJ won the job is because he was able to pick up the offense faster than the other guys, wasn't going to be out of position and was able to pick up the blitz fairly well. In other words, he wasn't going to do something stupid to lose the game for the team. But he also isn't much of a gamebreaking threat. I think last year the coaches were just looking for someone they could trust. CJ was that guy. That's a pretty stark departure from having the luxury of Reggie and LenDale.

As the media has covered ad nauseum, the team has a ton of talented running backs. I don't think there's any way that any of them are going to get enough touches this year to justify a Heisman.

I could see Joe McKnight being enough of an all-purpose threat to win it next year or two years from now, but based on the skill set of the team's tailbacks, he's the only one that looks like a possibility. It's strange to talk that way about a player that hasn't yet participated in a single Trojan practice, but Joe is obviously a rare talent. Let's just hope he can learn the playbook quickly and avoid injuries. He'll be fun to watch.

It's not important right now that JD is a current co-favorite for the Heisman. After all, today is only May 30th. As long as JD does what he is capable of doing, then the numbers will take care of themselves, and he should be on the stage in NY come Dec. It's going to be interesting see to how much more wide open the “O” will/should be under Coach Sark, which should benefit JD in a big way (can anyone say “shot-gun”).

No DeShaun Jackson?? Hmm... Don't know about that list.

DeShaun Jackson?

How about Heisman runner-up and obvious #1 favorite Darren McFadden??

That list is messed up.

I see CJ Spiller is on the list. Is he a Trojan? HAHA, Scott I couldn't resist. Just playin...

Where's McFadden on that list? Isn't he many people's favorite to win the trophy?

Scott Wolf

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
