Oh Well

No banter between USC coach Pete Carroll and UCLA coach Karl Dorrell yesterday because Dorrell missed the Nike camp at Stanford to attend a similar camp in Hawaii.

Never a bad excuse to go to Hawaii.

Anything between Charlie Weis and Coach Carroll?

Not trying to bag on Dorrell or UCLA (and get anyone’s underwear in a ruffle), but I have to question why he chose to go to Hawaii (other than for the obvious reason) rather than head to a location where the talent was a much stronger base. You would think you would want to make your presence felt at that show, especially when PC is already a dominating factor, and Jabba the Weis brought his Bill Belichick sweatshirt to that stage.

He can still visit the recruits that were in Stanford another day without having head-to-head competion with Pete Carroll. I'm sure the Hawaii camp had a few kids worth a look.

From all I've seen Karl Dorrell doesn't seem like a bad indiidual. His coaching is questionable and his choice in schools is obviously horrible, but I don't remember reading anything about him trash talking.

There are a few big prospects in Hawaii for the 09 class.

TrojanRAB, I will agree with you that Dorrell can still recruit those prospects that were on the Stanford stage. But in this day and age of recruiting (which is now a 24/7, 365 day routine), you need to make your presence felt everywhere, everyday (although I'm not try to defend Dorrell). If that was his decision, than that is something he will need to live with, as PC continues his recruiting dominance. Fight On!

Dorrell made plans a while ago to attend the coaching clinic/camp in Hawaii. He took his recruiting coordinator with him.

What I found interesting is this little blurb.

"Formerly the PIAA/Scout.com Football Combine, we have adjusted the event to meet new NCAA rules which prohibit college coaches from attending combines anywhere or anytime."

Don't worry fans...Dorrell and Babers were in Hawaii. Coach Norvell, Connelly and Coach Walker were at Stanford.
