Out Of The Woods?
Defensive tackle Chris Barrett is the only player ruled ineligible following the spring semester. However, several players still need to complete summer courses before we close the book on academic concerns before the the start of the season.
We also heard that Barrett's tried unsuccessfully to get a grade changed that might have affected his status.

Back in the old days, many players would take the ROTC classes to help that GPA. Why don't we see that now?

There still are, trust me.
I took the easiest course of my life last semester alongside about 20 guys on the team. I don't think it was a coincidence that the majority of the class played football. ;)

Yeah, I was surprised to find a bunch of athletes in a Geology class I was interested in and soon found out why. All I need to say is that the nickname of the class was "rocks for jocks." Easiest class ever. My sister took the same class back when former QB #13 who's initials are T.M. was there, from what she could gather from classroom discussions he probably didn't do very well.

In the history of college sports nothing changes, and it never will. Colleges produce football player's and PhD's and generally not in the same category.
