Parting Gift
It might not seem important that USC guard Gabe Pruitt was academically ineligible following the spring semester because he turned pro anyways, but the Trojans could lose a scholarship next year if Pruitt's ineligibility lowers the team's Academic Progress Report score below acceptable limits.
``It's a possibility,'' USC coach Tim Floyd said.
The NCAA does not automatically penalize schools when an athlete turns pro early, if that athlete is in good academic standing. For example, Nick Young's early departure is not expected to hurt the Trojans' APR score.
The Trojans already fell below the minimum score of 925 (roughly 60 percent graduation rate) in this month's ratings but were not penalized because of a squad-size adjustments for sports with small rosters.

Thsi may have been the type of info that shouldn't have been revealed unless the school is actally penalized.

I looked at these comments specifically to see if any Bruins had anything to say and lo and behold - ReelBruin has chipped in with another assinie comment. It never fails to amaze. Why Bruins are more obsessed with USC than Trojans are with UCLA I will never understand.
Do you really need to give your two cents on this topic ReelBruin?
Scott should probably consider adding you to the list of the ineligible posters just based on your spelling of 'taught' alone.

I am a Bruin and ocassionally check out Scott's sight as I respect him as a journalist, and think he does a fine job covering the Trojans. First of all, for anyone to gloat over a kid's academic misfortune IS assinine.
But guys, just a gentle reminder that an idiotn is no respector of universities: I get so tired of the same kind of crap being posted on Brian's (UCLA beat) blog. Let's face it, a samll contingent of idiots wear both school's colors.
If you just ignore the dullards, they tend to slink away after awhile.
Here's to a healthy cross-town football rivalry.
