Ripple Effect

There's been some buzz this week because USC offered a scholarship to Mater Dei quarterback Matt Barkley, who will only be a junior next year.
This only reinforces what we've stressed a lot lately, that USC is being forced to offer scholarships a lot earlier thanks to the competition.
And we might add we hear Barkley's noted the arrival of Arkansas quarterback Mitch Mustain and how it might affect him if he signed with USC.

If the kid is going to be a junior in high school this year, it won't affect him too much. All but Corp will be gone by the time he's a redshirt sophmore looking to take the job.

He better note that! If Mustain is as good as everyone says, than Barkley better step his game up and have a BIG year.

The main thing about the early offers is to show the kids some love. They can make a verbal but not sign on the line that is dotted. So there's not much risk on SC's part. But bad first impressions are hard to overcome. So make a good impression by offering early.

Mustain will likely be at Northern Iowa in '08, where he belongs.

Mustain is more likely to be at NY's Downtown Athletic Club accepting the Heisman than in Northern Iowa. At least Mitch is willing to compete for his job here, like a true Trojan would.

The kid can say whatever he wants to. At the end of the day he will end up at USC.

Romero Osby to be at USC next weekend... The
He is slated to play at the Pangos AA Camp, which is being held at USC's Galen Center Pavilion, the first weekend of June, Are you going to be there wolfie? four and five stars galore.

Milk,

Thanks for the info on the Hoops camp. Im going to check that out.

I agree with WL, he kid won't be competiting with Mitch, or even Corp. During his redshirt junior year, corp, sanchez and Mitch will have graduated. He would have two years to be the starting QB, provided if he is up to the task.

SC might offer Notre Dame Sherman Oaks Junior to be LB/FB/TE Jordan Bearet before the season starts

If "Mustain will likely be at Northern Iowa in '08, where he belongs," as you say, does that mean Sanchez will likely be in prison in '08, where he belongs?
