Say What?
Did anyone notice this line from highly respected NFL anaylst Gil Brandt on former USC defensive back Eric Wright?
``When you talk to him, he will convince you he did nothing wrong and his roommate was to blame (the police found over 100 ecstasy pills in his apartment).''
Wright's roommate was USC tailback Desmond Reed. Paging Wright's lawyer Carmen Trutanich!

SW, you left out the rest of the story. Brandt went on to say "He is a wild-card pick whom I think will be pretty good". Whether or not Eric wants to own up to anything, is a question that he needs to answer. However, if he is keeping himself clear of Paris Hilton like troubles, then he should have a very solid career. Hey, at least he was not drafted by the Bengals, so that's one step in the right direction.

exactly. If he´s not in jail, he deserves to be Trojan student athlete. God Bless Pete Carroll. Wright, Rucker, Rey Rey, Bush, DJ etc., etc. Who said L.A. doesn´t have a professional football team?

Your post is a very good one except for the last sentence which is laced with a gossip and tabloid flavor. I call them as I see them...

Door Prize:
Why did you change your name from El Capitan? Did you admit defeat after being humiliated over and over again as El Capitan? Will you change your name again after everyone humiliates you, yet again, as Door Prize? Why do you have to bother the good folk of USC, an institution you never went to?

I think the team has been on reasonably good behavior lately. Maybe its sinking in that anything each player does is magnified as a result of all the attention a top rank team draws.
Throw in the fact that they are in a market with a number of outside distractions. Then you can understand why they have to be on their Ps and Qs all the time.

After the arrest, many players were interviewed and of course, off the record, Eric Wright was known as Easy "E". Other players nicknamed him that because he was the guy to go to if you needed some E, not because he was easy going.
Although everyone has their own issues to deal with, Desmond Reed has not been linked to any problems. People that know him say he's very well liked & know that he has always been willing to make good / tough choices.

Wright denial won't help his image in NFL. That is Terrel Owen stuff.
Desmond Reed must be dissapointed. If it was true why didn't Wright defend himself at USC.
Still all a sad case. He was best to come into USC and would have been 2-time All american. Might have been difference in last 2 titles.

Eric Wright was called Easy E because he was the ecstasy connection? Dude, give me a break. Eric Wright was nicknamed Eazy-E because he shared a name with the immortal Eazy-E from NWA fame. Go look it up bro. Eazy-E was Eric Wright, so his teammates called Eric Wright, Eazy-E. Anyone who grew up listening to Straight Outta Compton or Eazy Duz It made that connection the first time they ever heard of Eric Wright the football player.
"Eazily I approach, the microphone because I ain't no joke. Tell your momma to get off of my tip, I have no time to giver her my #$%*"
Boy you should've known by now, Eazy does it!

It's just like the Bush, Leinart and McKnight charges...until you can prove it's true, you can't touch us. Plenty of people want to bring us down with false charges. To paraphrase another Trojan in the media...If you can't find my s*%t, you must acquit.

my sources were involved in the investigation... as I mentioned, people interviewed were NOT referring to his ability to rap.

Dude, BME, you're still not listening to what SureShot said. He said he's got the same name as the late Eazy-E of NWA fame, not for his "ability to rap." NWA pioneered gangsta rap by shocking the crap out of suburban folk with "Straight Outta Compton", "F--- the Police" and "Gangsta, Gangsta". Even if you always hated rap, where were you in the late 80s?
Now, BME, I'm not getting on you for not knowing who the original Eazy-E was, but for not listening to a fellow poster (SureShot) when he's trying to enlighten you. What he said was true. Seriously, though, how can one be a USC fan and claim ignorance about the musical explosion that was born not far from where our beloved Trojans play football? How does that happen? Well, do you at least know who Young MC was?

Trojan National:
I'm not disagreeing with you or sureshot32 for the origin for E Wright to be nicknamed Easy E. Let me make myself perfectly clear. All I'm repeating is what an investigator told me, which is that other players knew he had Ecstasy and who to go to.
I've been a fan since working with J McKay's training staff & got an engineering degree there, hence the BME. As a Trojan for life, I'm posting this because he's pointing the finger at Desmond which is not fair / true. The investigation by the way, did look at Desmond, but was cleared. The pills were in Eric's room, not Desmond's, and no one interviewed associated Desmond with Ecstacy.
Eric Wright needs to get his story straight. As Morantz said, if his story was true, why didn't he defend himself back then?
