Show Of Thanks
It might seem like basketball usually gets overshadowed by stories like Gabe Pruitt being ineligible or how it might affect USC's APR next year, but sometimes there are feel-good moments. Guard Lodrick Stewart presented Coach Tim Floyd with a certificate thanking him for ``the best two years of basketball in his life.''
Stewart said he gave Floyd the certificate after the season to show how much he appreciated what Floyd did for his career, which stalled the first two years and really didn't kick into gear until his senior season.

Great post Scott. I love news like this.
In the bad news section, looks like LenDale is screwing up against at Tennessee... sigh.
Here is a positive basketball story. USC received a LOI signed by Davon Jefferson from Patterson, NC. He is a five star small forward rated #6 in his position. When you beat Duke, UNC and NC state for one of the top players in the state of NC Tim Floyd and his staff deserves a good pat on the back folks. BTW USC has the #2 basketball recruiting class.

That is great...and stories like should aid USC future. Howver sad some kid decommitted to go to Ariz. and Young and Pruit (to their detriment) are not returning. Otherwise the future would be now and USC might have been a top 3 team.
They will be competitive, very young, still lacking a big man but what could have been.
Morantz,
It is sad to see Young and Pruitt leave (especially Pruitt b/c he would have thrived playing with Mayo). But that Brandon Jennings kid you keep referring to was not coming next year...he was an early commit for 2008. And the fact that he was even considering USC shows how the perception of the USC program has changed amongst potential recruits.
And granted, Young, Pruitt and Stewart comprised the majority of our offense. But "what could have been"? Are you kidding me? We have an incredible coach...who can actually coach (just ask Lodrick, Smiley and Noodles how their respective games improved under Floyd...especially on defense) and can recruit (i.e the No. 1 player in the country is coming to USC to play Basketball...not Football). We also now have the best Basketball Arena and Facilities in the Pac 10 and have the best recruiting class I have ever seen coming into USC next year (Mayo, Diarra, Johnson, Simmons, and Washington) to play with Gibson, Hackett, and Lewis.
Sure it would be nice to have a big center, and I would still like to see Young and Pruitt running around with the new kids, but you are starting to sound like a UCLA fan after last year’s football game. SC is not starting a downward sprial...USC Basketball is just getting started...so enjoy the ride.
PS - Door Prize..props for settling down and actually writing some nice posts this week.
