Welcome To Basketball

Point guard Brandon Jennings, one of the top prospects in the nation from the Class of 2008, committed to Arizona today. Jennings originally committed to USC last fall.
As recently as mid-March, Jennings remained firmly committed to USC.
But as we understand it from high-school basketball sources, a third party entered the picture around that time and began influencing his decision making. Shortly after that, Jennings decommitted and announced UConn and Arizona were also under consideration.
It reminds me that when Jennings committed to USC, a college basketball analyst commented, ``l'll believe it when I see the signed letter of intent.''

Bummer.

Good luck to the kid, except against USC.

I completely agree with the very last part of the post. This goes for football, of course, as well, especially since recruiting has gone through the roof. What I mean by this is the fact that recruits are being chased much earlier now, as in the first two years of high school. Talk is cheap! Nothing is concrete until they sign the dotted line.

Everyone was so cetain Floyd had USC on map. I knew Young and Pruitt would leave (both ill-advised). Mayo only here a short while.

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
