Defensive Whiz

USC freshman guard Marcus Simmons might not hit many outside shot this season but after watching him frustrate O.J. Mayo in pickup games, he might be the Trojans' most intense player as a defensive stopper. He'll be especially valuable in Pac-10 road games, such as places as Arizona, where he'll be able to get in the face of the opponents' top scorer.

Again, Scott...farm out the basketball tidbits to Matt Kredell.

I'm beginning to think that it's more important for you to post this under your name than to support your colleague in launching his site.

Your site is for USC Football. His is for USC Basketball. You should be gracious enough to understand the difference.

You should also be working closer with him and helping him and perhaps putting your tidbits on his page and linking to it from here.

I would say the same thing to him if he was posting USC football tidbits on his blog.

Disagree, Trojanhoya. Scott gets the goods. I'm glad he passes it on. I read Kredell too, but he has different info that Scott does, so I appreciate both.

Keep the info coming, Scott.

I didn't realize that TrojanHoya was the EIC for this site...
Scott can post whatever he wants. Let Kredell get his own scoops.

Trojanhoya if you do not like his post you do no t have to read them. Check out this Nick Young throwdown www.youtube.com/watch?v=IdTh1RPIVAU

Jeez Trojanhoya, enough already! You've been nagging on this for days! I like reading as much stuff as Scott can bring. All SC sports is fine with me. This is a great quickstop blogspot to jump in and out of on a convenient daily basis. Keep it coming Scott.

I'm entitled to my opinion and I respect your opinions as well.

I think it's great that Scott provides these basketball tidbits and he does a very good job about that. His weekly forum is one of the best sources for relevant, timely news out there on USC football.

All I was saying is that since his Daily News colleague is fledgling and breaking in his basketball blog on the same Daily News website, why should Wolf be competing with his own colleague on his colleague's turf?

I think Wolf should get his credit where credit is due, but my idea was to have him post it through the basketball blog and link it to this blog so we can all read the tidbit here, but we can also link to the basketball blog to support that effort as well.

In the coming years we'll want a Wolf-style of blog for basketball as well...no use starving it when it's trying to grow by directing interest in the basketball program to THIS blog...

I hope this makes sense...because it sure makes great business sense. Wolf will still get the hits on this site, but the other site will get hits as well, and the two blogs will support each other...

The Daily News should be interested in having its USC fans branch out onto two different sites and drive up advertising revenue opportunities and interest in the Daily News as a whole.

TrojanHoya,

Nice of you to come back and defend your statement but I still disagree with your position.

Nowhere on this blog does it say that this is solely a USC football blog. (Unless you think that the helmet picture in the heading suggests it). There are even two basketball video interviews in the right margin.

Just because you desire two separate blogs for the two sports doesn't mean it has to be so. One 3 sentence post on this blog does not signify the end of the basketball blog and Scott's encroachment on Kredell's territory.

The name of the blog is Inside USC - not Inside USC Football. Your initial post was a rant on your personal preference bit and a bit of an overreaction.

Trojanhoya, I disagree with ya. The more SC sports here the better imho. Let Kredell's blog make or break on it's own merit. Who knows, he might spring some tasty football info on us also..
Gillyking

TrojanHoya,

Your next project should be to try to convince all of the UCLA nuisance bloggers to go to Brian Dohn's website because Scott's site is for USC Football and Brian's site is for UCLA Sports!

I respect your opinion, but I totally disagree with you. Kredell’s Blog is great during the B-Ball season, but I enjoy Scott’s insight into both the USC Football and Basketball programs, and Scott can do no wrong on this Blog...except for continuing to allow certain individuals to continue posting basura.

Scott Wolf

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
