Finland 1, USC 1
The Nordic country and USC produced exactly the same number of first-round picks in the NBA draft. But Finnish guard Petteri Koponen probably played in an arena last season where the soft-serve ice cream worked.
But we digress. Things clearly did not work out as planned for former USC guard Gabe Pruitt. Before the draft, the feeling was Pruitt needed to be picked in the first to justify his decision to leave school early. Only time will tell whether Pruitt made the right decision, but it looks like the off-the-record whispers from some NBA teams about Pruitt being a little soft in workouts contributed to his situation.

You sure about that? As I remember, until his performance in the tournament there were serious doubts as to whether he'd even be drafted period.
I was pretty stoked he went as high as 32. Fight on Gabe.
Here, here Connor. Couldn't agree more.
He missed the 1st round by 2 picks, will make a ton of money and will play some. Not bad for a kid that couldn't keep his grades up at USC.
If I was failing my classes while at USC and knew I could make mid-6 figures playing basketball I'd be gone like the wind.
It was a risk, but in my opinion one worth taking considering OJ Mayo will probably become the focal point of the team next year.
Best of luck to GP.
"But we digress."
