Just Wondering?
There's been a bit of a backlash from USC fans to basketball coach Tim Floyd offering a scholarship to an eighth-grader and getting a commitment last week. But how many of these same people would complain if Pete Carroll got an eighth-grade quarterback to commit?
Who would be protesting if Jimmy Clausen (already well known while in junior high) committed to USC in eighth grade?

EVERYONE would be complaining about our football team, just like they always do. Cheaters, etc.
How Do You Do?
Hasn't "Super Baby" committed already to the USC football team? I know he's only about a year old, but never too young to get a blue chipper like Cole Leinart--he'd better get that ballroom dancing class lined up, too. And glad to see his uncle coming to 'SC.
Personally, I am awaiting the FIRST FETUS BABY with baited breath--can this be far off?
Fight On!
I heard this kid isn't exactly the Jimmy Clausen of basketball.
He is a 5'11 PG. Its not like Tim locked up the next Greg Oden.
5'11" = 5'9'
He's still growing...remember, still in 8th grade.
I think the whole thing is ridiculous.
1. He's in 8th grade he has no idea what college he wants to go to. Commits change their mind when they are 18, not to mention 13, I am sure he will change his mind sometime within the next 6 years and go someplace else. So why bother with him now? Hell commits pulled out of ND on the last hour of national signing day last year.
2. The kid is like 12 years old, dang. How far are we going with this? 5? 2? Are we going to recruit 8 year olds? Hey Tim, HE'S A CHILD. Let him have his childhood before he has to deal with agents, ESPN, and television interviews for Christ sake.
That is true. He could grown another 2 ft and be a 7'10" pg or he could grow 1" and be 5'10". Just seems to risky especially for pg. I would feel better if he was a 6'6" 8th grader like Dwayne. Sounds like another Malik Story situation.
One positive that I see about this whole thing is that if Tim Floyd is thinking about recruiting players that will be on the court 5 years from now, he must be serious about staying at USC for a long time.
I for one think it was a mistake. We have made a significant stride in the credibility of our basketball program by not only going to the Sweet 16, but by also producing two potential first-round NBA players in Young and Pruitt then to get OJ Mayo to grace us with his presence for a year. The recruiting of an 8th-grade is a detractor and is providing negative publicity.
