Late Night At USC

So what did O.J. Mayo do his first night on campus as he waits to start summer school? Play basketball of course.
``I've been up since 4 a.m. Eastern time, so I'm pretty tired,'' Mayo said. But he still played until around 10 p.m.
Mayo played on a team featuring his (very, very raw) future teammate, forward Davon Jefferson, and Arizona State-bound guard James Harden. Mayo and Harden are considered among the top 10 players in the nation for the Class of 2007.

Mayo started off the first game with a drive to the basket and smooth little 3-foot running shot, hit a couple 3's and added a dunk. He also turned the ball over and missed a couple jump shots.
Mayo opened the second game with a dunk but missed a highlight play when his alley-oop pass to Jefferson was higher than Jefferson expected (remember, we said raw). Mayo then drove for a layup.
During a break, he found out the Spurs beat the Cavaliers to take a 3-0 lead in the NBA Finals. Eventually, fatigue started setting in and shots fell less often although he picked his game up whenever he felt like it. After all, this is pickup basketball.
Today, his roommate, fellow freshman guard Marcus Simmons, arrives from Louisiana.

Again, Scott--please tell us Brendan Kredell is on vacation or something...as much as we love to read these posts, it still does not sit well that this is not coming from the Daily News' USC Hoops blog. Be the bigger man and work with BK to coordinate these stories and to give him a chance to shine as well...

BK has posts up on Mayo already--perhaps you can do something where you post this on his site as a contributing writer and then link to it from this blog. The cross-traffic generated would be good business for both blogs and for the Daily News as well. Think about it...

Trojanhoya,

What is the problem with having 2 different accounts of a story. Scott's blog entry about Mayo did not in any way take away from the work of Kredell.

Trojanhoya is a complete bafoon. Don't list to this guy. Scott knows more about basketball than matthew. Trojanhoya it is not Brendan Kredall it Matthew Kredall.

An experienced and savvy supporting cast of Young and Pruitt couldn't hurt right about now eh?

Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
