Name To Watch

A player getting a long look by USC is running back Derrick Coleman of Troy High School. Coleman is a big name in Orange County but some might be surprised how highly USC regards him.
Why? Because he can play fullback or tailback and fullback remains a sore spot for the Trojans. So a two-position back like Coleman might fight into USC's plans.

I like it. Another Stan H. type player would be welcomed.

I like the idea of "fight[ing] into USC's plans." You don't just fit, you gotta fight. Carroll love competition.

LOL, nice point, Matthew. I didn't even notice that the first time.

I suspect "fight" was a mistype and he meant to say "fit."

Scott Wolf

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
