We hear USC coach Pete Carroll made it clear to everyone around Heritage Hall that only he approves jersey numbers, just to avoid another mix-up like the one that mistakenly awarded No. 13 to Mitch Mustain.
Why is this even an issue? Mustain will just revert to his old No. 16 next year when it becomes available. Does it matter what his number is during the year he has to sit out? Is this really a controversy? News must be slow if there is an actual discussion of a jersey number being handed out without the proper protocol. For heaven's sake, it's only a number!
Next, please...

I thought we settled this last week. Why are we bringing this topic up again.?
Last week I thought we discussed here that Pete says he has the final say on numbers issued.
Although frankly I'm sure he has more important thngs to do with his time.
You are correct about "Jersey Numbergate 2003-04" - it was Carroll who took away Hance's number and gave it to a freshman. He claimed that Hance had agreed to it during a conversation in practice, but Hance denied ever giving his number away to Lewis or anyone.
And we all saw how well the 5 star recruit Whitney Lewis turned out at USC...
Jersey Numbergate 2007 continues...
Just give him Sanchez's number since Sanchez will never see the field again when Mustain starts in 2008.

the only numbers that should matter are the numbers on the scoreboard...
What about Jersey Numbergate 2003-04?
Who authorized Whitney Lewis getting Brandon Hance's #4 jersey...was it PC?
