No Fun League

We hear Raiders coach Lane Kiffin got turned in by his own players for running practices without pads that were designed for when players wore pads and for doing drills like one-on-one pass rushes, which are a no-no this time of year.
We also hear the Raiders offense is getting dominated by the defense in the practices that were allowed.

The Detroit Lions players did the same thing last year during summer practice, to HC Rod Marinelli. They all went and complained to the NFLPA that the practices were "too hard".

hahaha...I call that being a Pus*y

This is not on the topic but look at what the UCLA blog says today:

Enough of 13-9?
Is it me, or by now is it time to get past UCLA's 13-9 defeat of USC? I know it was a while since UCLA won and it cost USC a chance at the national title, but in talking to folks on and off campus, to me there is a warped sense of accomplishment lingering from the win. Yes, I understand it was great, but it spurred UCLA to a 7-6 season, and the Bruins then lost to a Florida State team in the Emerald Bowl. A Florida State team that did not want to be there, and played like it in the first half.
Yet, I still see things around campus celebrating UCLA's 13-9 win, and UCLA fans are often holding the 13-9 win in the faces of USC fans. The way I see it, USC is still the best program in the country, and living off one win six months ago in an average season makes no sense.
I know in talking to some players, they have moved far beyond that game and are focused on next season.
Are UCLA fans so starved to have something on USC that they are clinging to one win? What's your take

well, the raiders have a nasty defense, so you would expect them to dominate while kiffin installs his new offense and the rookies catch up to the speed of the game.

No matter what happens to Lane Kiffin at Oakland, he's still acheived more in his career before the age of 32 than I ever will in my life.

Personally, I'm just hoping to move into a management gig at Chano's.... and maybe add smoothies to the menu or something.

So we have Detroit last year and Oakland this year... hmn.

So who's the snitch, McCown or BMW? I hope it's not Big Mike.

In all seriousness, the Raiders should be the last team to complain about practice since they embarassed every member of the Raider Nation the past few years.

It does make you wonder though how top NFL programs handle practices and players. Do the players at New England or Indy complain about the pace and tempo of their practices? What are their practices like?

That would seem to be the key issue. I would bet those practices are high tempo and everyone running at a high motor with a sense of competition.

It's what separate successful clubs from also-rans. It's also a real sign of the character of a team.

You look at Pete and the talk his practices generate and how a lot of other coaches are adopting an up tempo (look at the Bruins now, it's like night and day from two years ago). You get players that buy into it and throw themselves into it.

As many 'SC players have said, by the time the game comes around, it slows down for you because practice was so fast.

As for the Raiders O getting dominated, have you seen their O-line? In a word, they stink. JaMarcus Russell will need every pound on his frame to save him the pounding he's going to take.

Exactly why I'll take the college game to the NFL anyday. No high paid underachieving primma-donna's in the collegiate ranks. The results of the Raiders and Lions says it all. A bunch of wealthy lazy "so called" players.

So PC....please stick around our game..You also don't need the BS that comes from the NFL and the NFLPA.
