Prediction Of The Day
Today is the start of the Rising Stars camp at USC (as opposed to the Sinking Stars) and we hear it could be when offensive tackle Tyron Smith of Rancho Verde High officially commits to the Trojans.
Speaking of offensive line recruits, it sounds like offensive tackle Kyle Long,, the son of former Raiders defensive lineman Howie Long, will go to Florida State.

Great, lets hope that Tyron Smith does commit to SC. We need to have those top HS linemen heading to Heritage Hall. As for Kyle Long possibly committing to Florida State, I have to pose the question, how is it that Bobby "I wear my sun glasses at night" Bowden is still getting some of the top HS recruits, to head to Tallahassee, even though their program is lagging in comparison to some of the other top programs in the nation.
I thought it was called the "Rising Seniors" camp?
Also Kyle Long announced awhile back that he would accept a FSU scholarship for baseball, not fooball.
Kyle will not be playing football for ol' man bowden. He is going to be a Pitcher for the baseball team.
Kyle Long is going to play baseball at FSU - not football.
Seriously? Who plays baseball? British girls? Jeff Samarzidja?
Maybe people who like baseball?
I hope Tyron can hit the books and qualify. I know he had to drop other teams he liked because grades are an issue. Please, Tyron, study hard so you make the minimum requirements. We need you.
I have never heard any grade issues with Tyron.
Here is another rising star, Brice Butler, we should watch. There is just one little thing of concern. The Trojans on this blog should be able to figure it out. Doubt the Bruins will see it.
"One of the most college-ready wide receiver prospects in the country has narrowed his list of college choices. Norcross (Ga.) standout Brice Butler released a list of 10 finalists during an exclusive interview with Rivals.com on Thursday morning.
"My top 10 is USC, Florida State, Notre Dame, LSU, Arizona State, Florida, Penn State, Oregon, Oregon State and Georgia," Butler said.
The 6-foot-3, 175-pounder talked about each of his top schools.
"Southern California made my list I'd say because of their coaching staff and the competition there," Butler said. "Every week you will be going against the best players every week, Pete Carroll is a good coach. He's a very up-tempo guy. He likes to work hard.
"The new receiver coach John Morton is a good coach. He knows what he's talking about. He's a good coach. Also, my recruiting coach is a fun guy to be with. Todd McNair made me like USC a lot, really. He really got me interested in SC."
Tyron Smith commits to USC
According to Rivals.com Tyrone Smith is the 2008 ELEVENTH best player in the nation. He is 6'6" and 265 lbs. with a 5.1 for the 40.
